my gf is trying to get a loan for 5000 and she only has a credit card she hasnt paid on since october last year so im sure thats defaulted on her credit report. other then that she has her car shes been paying for almost a year no late payments or anything. thats all she has on her. every credit union shes called wants a recent check stub but her jobs are giving her good hours one week and a few short the next week. wheres a good place to get a loan for 5k?

If she just defaulted a credit card, its going to be high ass interest if at all...

Why is she dealing just with credit unions? Most credit unions won't accept you if you arent employeed by certain companys.

Ask yourself this...not being harsh but in all reality...if in less than 90 days ago she defaulted a credit card, why would you lend her $5,000?

and you are getting off easy on one check stub...every loan I've ever gotten has wanted 2 if not 3 stubs

well anywhere else she can go?

With the previous issues with a credit card and and unstable job....she wont be able to get one anywhere more than likely.

No, if she can't pay a credit card, The last thing she needs is more debt. Why would you even let her get in this mess ?

she has a stable job. has the same one for 3 years now and just got another job

her hours are changing (what you said in your OP) so they dont see that as stability. Thats the whole reason behind them wanting the 2 or 3 most recent stubs at other places.

her new job she has stubs for every week her 3 year job she gets paid every 2 weeks. she is trying to get the loan because she was going to pay for college with what she can and pay off the stupid credit card and put the rest on her car cause she dont owe much less on it

What is the loan for if you dont mind me asking? If its a vehicle and its really worth the amount (say like a 04 tahoe she found a miracle deal on) then a bank may be more willing to take a risk. Does she actually bank with someone now anyway? Kinda hard to go to banks you dont have a relationship with and say "hey, I need $5k" especially with the recent credit issue.

haha yeah she banks with some small bank in calhoun where she lives...she called just now and they are at lunch. she got her car loan through that bank also. her bank says it does loan and credit and they dont treat you like a credit score so maybe they will help out.

i had a nice long response typed up, then the server crashed FML

Basically no, she needs to settle the Credit Card up to date FIRST before doing anything else. Otherwise it will follow her for 5-7 years and ruin her credit or any future chances at a loan.

She needs to be responsible NOW, the laws today protect the consumer more than they ever have before. October is not that long ago, she needs to contact them ASAP

This.....

1. trust me....they won't loan you shit without collateral.

2. Even then, they'll jack up the interest up the ass for a personal loan

3. Just save up the $5000

If your girl is trying to get a loan, she can get one as a student. She needs complete the application process for school, then fill out a FAFSA, then she can apply for a student loan up to about $8,000 with the federal government. That is the only way she can get a loan in her situation plus she can pay after college. She just can't fuck up with the credit cards again, and there is no way out of student loans unless a job is willing to pay them off once you sign a contract. Just an option.

this is a good idea my brother does the same thing..just make sure you graduate (he's graduating this summer), but even if you do this, you're still gonna need a co-signer to get the loan, so if you decide not to get a federal student loan, you can find someone with good credit to co-sign to get a loan, like previous people have stated, even if she was to get a loan, the intrest rate would be too high.
