Starting to come out of his shell? He has 3 homeruns and 8 RBIs in the first 6 games of the season. Not too shabby for the dude. He went 3-3 last night with a 2 run HR and went 1-4 tonight with a solo shot. I don't jump on bandwagons and I don't get giddy over fast starting rookies, so I won't say he is the next "Man." But he is looking like he could be a good addition to the team. Later, QD.

yeah, he has a learning curve to deal with the breaking stuff but so do all rookies. Just needs to strike out a little less

I agree I'm pretty pumped about the guy. I felt like he was under a lot of pressure in his first game....then he hit one out...so what ever

If he stays healthy, it will be the best bat power wise the braves have had in a solid bit

i was lucky enough to be at turner field yesterday to watch the braves win! heyward is looking great, that walk he drew on bases loaded shows that hes got patience and on BASES LOADED. he knew he didnt need to swing the bat to drive in a run in that situation. and that bottom of the 9th walk off single was just wow. He knew he didnt need a home run to win the game, just put the ball in play.
as of right now, Heyward has more RBIs than any 2 braves combined on the roster. OUR TEAM IS BEING CARRIED ON THE BACK OF A 20 YEAR OLD ROOKIE.

Heyward has the tools, but he will also fall into a bit of a slump before the all-star break. As we speak, scouts are studying every bit of film they can get on him and trying to put together a 'book' on him, just like they do with any other hitter in the league. By the time the break comes along pitchers will have some good info on him and know his strengths and weaknesses. Look for the slump as he learns to adapt and overcome those weaknesses.
I dont know if he will be Tony Gwinn or Hank Aaron, but he has all the markings of a very solid bat for a very long time.

Hes had awesome talent as a ball player for years. Few of my buddies played ball with him in high school.
i remember when everyone was talking about Jeff Francoeur when he first started and wasnt it just last year everyone was talking about Jordan Schafer. and if i remember right wasnt his first ML at bat also a HR?

You are correct, sir. Later, QD.

Yeah, but no one ever called either a 5 tool player. No one ever accused Jeff of seeing a pitch he didnt like. And Schafer was never accused of having power. Neither seemed as ready as Heyward.

I've always been one to not put stock into something that seems good so early, but it's hard not to with this dude. Two days ago, he hits a two-run, game winning single and then last night hits a game tying, two out, bottom of the ninth homerun? His fourth HR of the year? Damn. Later, QD.

And Dale Murphy was traded the year before the Braves started their upward turn. Later, QD.

yea we did but the point is, we got em all as prospects and when they developed, they've had long careers as atlanta braves
well with jurrjens being represent by boras, idk how long he'll be a braves.

Unless we get 80-100 million. I doubt for long. Lol When chipper comes off the books(after this year I bet), we'll have some more money. But at the same time....Lowe is still there.

Three home runs in three straight games, lolol. He's putting on a pretty good showing for a rookie here. Later, QD.

Well the Braves have pulled two HUGE wins out of Houston after their nine game lose streak and Heyward knocked in three more runs. He is now in second place in RBIs and looks like he is pulling right on out of his slump. Later, QD.

yeah i dig him a lot! i love how he keeps his composure even in a slump. he doesnt beat himself up like a couple rookies and vets do. He understands that you're not gonna always bat .400 and you WILL strike out from time to time. I feel really good having him on my team. He has MORE RBI's than Chipper and more HR's than Glaus our "Big bat". He's awesome.
