Are you asking for the best sleeper we've seen? Or are you asking for the best factory sleepers?
One of my favorite factory sleepers is the 1990 Mitsubishi Gallant VR-4. All wheel drive, All wheel steering, and a turbocharger made it a factory hot rod. Best part is that only a tiny badge and some black wheels separate it from the standard shitty Gallants visually.

My opinion on one of the street cars that act as a sleeper is the Lexus GS400 preferably 98-01 . Supposedly they're 0-60 mph time is about 5.4 - 5.7 secs depending on which site you check it out on.

i revert back to the previous post....built or stock release?
built id have to say the porshe owner that i stayed beside at 145mph was pretty impressed with my little 94 corolla grocery getter...as was the c5 owner i stayed with from a dig till about 100mph.....but im supercharged , cammed , FMIC'ed, with a few other things.
factory released....id agree with the typhoon/cyclone as well as the vr-4 , i had a vr-4 once before i knew what it was..... the old toyota previas came with a 2.2 liter and a 1400cc (sc14) supercharger and were pretty quick as well.
