just trying to find pretty much a non blu-ray/dvd playing receiver, and speakers. its going to be used for a samsung un55b8000, and my ps3 will be used for movies. wireless rear speakers could be useful too. dont really know what else to be concerned about so any info or help would be great!

i run a set of Paradigm speakers off of a Yamaha RX-365 receiver paired with a Klipsch digital 10 sub, and I have been more than happy with it. PLENTY of output, and the clarity is wonderful. I'm not a big fan of the whole home theater in a box thing, because either it's overpriced, or SOMETHING about it is sub-par. Mix and match to get what you want, with the features you want, for the price you want.

This is what i have in my townhome and ask B@D @PPLE how much it shakes the house lol

I got it for $400 from best buy but you can get it on AMAZON IIRC for around $330-350. Its got wireless rear speakers, DVD player, dual sub, and looks really good

I've got that and its really powerful and great sounding. I used to sell home theater equipment so I have a tuned ear, and this one really caught my attention.

if i could find that with just an audio receiver that would be perfect, i may try building my own like he said above, just going to have to look into things more if i do that

We sell a lot of Onkyo and def. worth the price. We did a home theater room for our own private use at my store. We use a Onkyo receiver, PS3, Xbox 360, HD projector, and NXG Professional grade towers/center channel/sub. Let's just say it looks and sounds better than an actual theater.

hope it all gets here tomorrow! kinda curious how important the speaker placement is, all the set up plans ive seen for 7.1 assume you have space behind your couch to have the actual rear surround speakers behind you. im at work for 12 hours and will be on this computer all night so im probably going to get on paint and draw my living room....haha and how i currently have the wires ran. if anyone can let me know if it will be fine how i have it now that would help!

ok my paint picture wasnt so great so i added some of my living room. but right now thats how i have it planned to be set up. wasnt sure if that would work fine since i have no space behind the couch to actually put the rear surrouns behind it. so right now its the rears are at the sides, and the left and rights are more of just further left and right of the front left/right
