Ok guys, so I came in here a few months ago with a 240sx shell that I never should have bought. No job, no idea what I'm doing and a car I wasn't in love with. I wanted to be a drifter. Shit I still do, but I think I'll try another approach. I have a job now (Yay me!) and I will be buying another car very soon. I'll take all the man, or woman (Androo) power I can get. Anyway I'll be getting a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback and dumping a ton of money into it

First person to call me a redneck gets shot.

You could not afford to build a 240 shell car, yet you think getting a 67 fastback is going to be easier? Its going to cost 4x as much to restore a 67 then it would a 240 roller car.

Ok well in case you missed it, which I think you did, I had no job, nor a DD. I made a retard move buying a project. Now I have a job with good pay (for my age at least) and a DD (which is the laughing stock of Top Notch).

I know how much it will take, but at least now I can take my time on it.

Look at it this way a already factory non-frame off resto car will cost you around $30-40,000. A frame off resto mod one being $60k+. Now if you buy one for a free grand thats going to need to be restored or a good bit of work done its going to take you a few years and probably $20,000+.

Not knocking you just saying...

Since when is a restomod supposed to be cheap or quick? lol
I'll be upset if it takes less than three years..just sayin'

just sayin...but you want something to not be the "laughing stock of top notch" with, but dont expect to get it done in less than 3 years? kinda flawed logic dont you think?

When did I say this? I don't mind people laughing. My car gets me from A to B and gets pretty good gas mileage. That's all I need right now. TN is full of cools guys and gals that like me for me, not my car. This was a thread to get ideas and help, not to argue about my logic.

Thats great. An I agree with you on Top Notch, but does not with a thread about ideas and help not also run hand in hand with the logic behind your rebuttles?

You going to the thursday night meet tomorrow?

If the frame is straight, replace all the worn out suspension, get it running, then give it hell. Cosmetics can be done as it comes along, but that's just me.

How was I confuzed? From what I read its pretty straight forward. What I dont understand is why your taking this so seriously? You asked for suggestions and suggestions if what I am giving you.

What do you do for a living and have you graduated high school yet?

I'm only taking it serious because you made it serious. You came out the gate bashing me for wanting an expensive project. I work in disaster restoration and mitigation. GED, but honestly why the hell does that matter?

Depends on what you plan to do. If you went to college full time then that limits the time you will have to work or spend working on your project. Meaning the idea of your project becomes less practical. Also think that in a year and a half when you still dont have anything to take to shows or meets with you still going to care about your project? Eventually you might get to the point you wanted something done faster that you can have fun with. What I am getting at is make sure that you want to give up the amount of money and time to have something fun in 3 years vs. something practical that can be done in a matter of months, and the more time to go out and have fun with it.

Also I never came out of the gate bashing you. I just came in stating your flawed logic of complaining about a 240 project and then wanting to jump into a 67 fastback. You and only you made it serious by taken what I said to heart.
