from what i understand there is no stage 5 in the works, they simply "ran out" of cars to race because dependant by either vehicles had "reached their limits" FD/86 duo... or that cars they were racing were becoming too "advanced" for them to compete with.. and changing from the 86 would pretty much destroy the series.

their final duel was between a NUR SPEC R34 and the S-type S2000. (assumidly the pinnacle of car creation in japan @ that period) sure there were other vehicles that could have be introduced then and now. but regardless of skill a R35 BPU++ would devistate a FD on a run... and lan evo x/sti/370z/genesis would vaguely be in the same range with its electronic advantages and what not. the story does end rather... open ended i guess, saying we will continue to race until the day comes we can no longer win. IE: its assumed they've beaten everyone and they go on to have racing careers and such.

naw per wilkepedia they are supposed to drop the 5th stage anime in 2011. the fifth stage has been out for a while in the manga comics. wish i could read that junk...plus you know enventually he is gonna have to bring out bunta's ver 6 sti for a battle.
