UPDATEDD
Ok so after cleaning the original iacv, the car seemed the same[idling like crazy]
so i replaced it with another one & the idling stop
only thing i notice is that is idles while its in neutral
but not like before its idles from like 1200 to 1500
Should i clean the iacv i just bought or what else could be the problem!!!??????

does it go up then down then back up? rapidly? or goes up and stay there for seconds/minutes
where does it idle after the rpm stop going up and acting crazy?
1k? under 1k?

sounds like your idle air control motor is bad. or going bad.

Could be due to a few things:
Bad intake manifold gasket or throttle body gasket
Bad IACV
Vacuum leak
May need a coolant flush/more coolant/bleed air out of the system

it does need to be bleed from the brakes..
but a mechanic checked it out and said it was a valve that connects to the injector?

bleed the air from the coolant. if that doesnt fix it, either its the IAC or a vac leak. does it fluctuate up and down?
Ok so ive had this problem for a while now..
starts out in the morning when i go and warm up my car..
i tend to give it a little bit of gas while im starting it. once is on and running i just let it go.. but once i let it go.. it starts to accelerate itself.. but the reason i give it a little gas cause i have trouble starting it also..
and i let it warm up a good while.. once i take off.. and stop in a light and its on neutral.. it accelerates its self to almost 2k rpm and sometimes even more to the point i think my engine is gonna blow  Sometimes.is just stays accelerated. & sometimes is accelerates then stops then does it over again!
But it Always happens in the Mornings.. once i park it. and take off again about 2hrs later.. its totally fine. all day!
what can be causing this horrible horrible problem
Oh & yes i do maintain it up to date!:goodjob:
First thing i'd do is check your FastIdleValve. It's located directly underneath the throttle body - takes just a couple minutes to fix, and i'd put money on it as being your issue.
Here's a link to a good "how-to" - the guy that did it just took his entire manifold off the engine, but you can do it while leaving them manifold in place.

do you have a FSM or a haynes manual? it's in there.

What kind of BS reply is this?
you: "yeah, uh check for bubbles in the coolant."
OP: "how do i do that?"
you: "i don't know (or don't feel like typing it out), so just go check your Haynes manual."
OP: "oh, well... thanks for the help anyways..."
give me a break. help the man!

well im not sure how to do it in an ef. my brother did it in his prelude and it fixed it. all i know is it causes the idle fluctuations, and is the cheapest thing to do to solve it. so start with the easy stuff first.

Could be a bad temp sensor OR if the system has air in it the car will think its hotter than it really is...
geezy

so the system needs to be bleed?
Thats where I would start
geezy
03-18-2010, 01:38 AM
Well Tomorow Imma start by cleaning the IACV and if it doesnt fix the problem
ill go from there

i think to bleed it on an EF there is a bleeder screw on the front of the engine where the upper radiator hose connects at the head, your supposed to open it when you add coolant, have you changed that lately or anything like that? you open it while filling and i know on newer ones you have to "burp"the system. i'm not sure if this can be open while it's running but it would get the air out. the screw is right in front of the dizzy housing and i think on eg's there is also a bleeder screw too!!! i may also have a working IACV too, i have a spare manifold and throttle body for and ef, but mine is DPFI!!!!

i changed the anti-freeze when i first bought the car but all i did was drain out the old one and put in the new one.

and also would this problem cause my fan to turn on constantly? because normally it doesnt turn on unless im runnning the car for a long long drive but now once it warms up a lil it turns on..yes if the car sees that its running hot or on the higher side of warm. when it reaches a certain temp the fans will come on. if the fans are coming on quick like not after your long drive. then i would have to suggest that you have a air pocket near the temp sensor causing the slightly higher than normal reading to the ECU. which in turn is turning on the fan earlier than normal.
i changed the anti-freeze when i first bought the car but all i did was drain out the old one and put in the new one. when was this. how long ago. and about how many miles....
please make sure your coolant overflow tank is filled up and NOT anywhere close to empty. and the lines are clean to it. when was the last time your rad cap was looked at. fairly new?

how the rad cap. there is only a few places air gets into your systemm.and what way it is. i needs to be fixed. air just doesnt appear in your coolant system. i dont care how hot you get it. if it boils over when it cools it will turn back to liquid. but it if doesnt that means you have a leak somewhere. and needs to be addressed. head gaskets. hoses. and heater core and thermostate housing are the most common areas. look for leaks maybe and burp the system. if the hoses feel soft when the car is warmed up.

UPDATE
I Cleaned The IACV It Helped A Alot :goodjob:But It Still A Little Something That Doesnt Seem Right & The Fan Still Turns On Asoon As I Start The Car!!!
Excellent - did you clean out the IACV, or the FITV?
Does the fan turn on when you have the key in only the "run" position (without the engine being started?)

Well i started the car today & it seem to be idling the same as it used to but as it got warmer it stoped lil by lil
i cleaned the IACV but im not sure where the FITV is located

kinda sounds like your having more than a IACV issue. i would have ask if you have any codes... which i would hope you would tell us. more info is best. this and that doesnt do shit, just saying. but yes sounds like your have a control sesnor issue like a map sensor? dik hondas to well but yeah. high idles usual means a limp mode or fail safe mode. like a bad map and its just says oh high idle because i dont know whats going on in the manifold. but yehah...

hmm idk about the codess and how can i make sure of what it is..
