Anyone know much about these? I've done a little searching and haven't found a good forum for the mk1 celica yet. Interested in restoring it and driving it. Maybe a 1jz swap? I've seen a few on youtube but no info about the swap. But anyways, Whats some of IA's thoughts about it?

What's there to think about?

Get one. Talk to Dolemite on here about them. He's pretty well versed on the subject of old Toyotas. Later, QD.

PM Dolemite. He has a 1st gen celica hatch with a 5mge swap from a celica supra for less than 3k.

!jz will go fine in 76-77 celicas they have more room. Popular swap for the 71-75 is 1g-gte, direct bolt in, just need to change the engine mounts ( u can use 3tc mounts), get w58, u only have to rotate the trans crossmember 180 degrees and it'll bolt right up! I have 74 celica coupe and a 1g-gte i did research, 1ggte has lots of potential.

Yes no jz's in early first gens, they do almost bolt in to the 75- 77's. And I have a tab on a 1gg if you need one.

edit: 76-77 cars are almost bolt in, 75 was a odd ball year that is closer to a 74 than a 76
