seriously.... is it worth it?

shopping for a new notebook PC. HD space doesnt matter to me because i plan on getting a 1T External....

i plan on streaming TV shows and movies off the net... maybe some mild gaming if any at all.... multitasking for sure.... want a long battery life.... portability is good.... I NEED TO BE ABLE TO PLUG TO MY 1080p LCD TV..... would like a built in dvd drive but not needed.... really just for streaming video and surfing the net is what i need it for... would like to do some video editing too down the road.

Same reason I keep it Mac. I'm no computer tech wiz, but they are great for multimedia and are very user-friendly. Plus, Apple's customer service is second to none, IMO. Their prices can be a bit of a turn off, though, but the quality is worth it. I won't go back to Windows.

i can agree the quality on a mac is undeniable but comparing a $1000 macbook to a $1000 PC can be tough.... a lot of the under $600 laptops have the same specs as a macbook... so what makes paying $400 more for a mac worth it? thats kinda where im stuck.

I had a IMac not long ago and loved it! did all my video editing in HD using Final Cut and it was a blast to use... but it was also a gift from my GF and i didnt have to pay for the computer lol

Yeah, I bought a Toshiba laptop w/ Vista in '07 for $600. It was 17" and was ok for me, until my old apt was broken into and it was stolen. My girlfriend had bought a Macbook Pro last year for her job and after playing around with it, I practically fell in love with it. When I moved into a house, I bought my first Mac. While I don't use my iMac for video/music editing (they're very popular for that), I use it to stream video, surf the internet, and game.

I guess when it boils down to it, it's the most advanced, powerful, and precise machine I've ever owned. However, it's very difficult for me to justify dishing out $1400 for potential I've yet to really exploit.

Seems too good to be true. Might be refurbs but they are still good prices. It's hard to find legit stuff on CL nowadays, though. Especially through 3rd party vendors...

If you're not an idiot an know how to keep your windows virus free, running smooth, then get a PC.

Macs are great but no need to lose the compatibility with 99% of the market's applications out there because you're scared of getting a virus, spyware, etc.

If you need it for video editing, writing, get a mac.

If you're a geek, get a PC, make 3 separate partitions, install Windows 7, Mac osx, and linux. You can have the best of all worlds in one computer.
