i have a d15b i got from a friend and i have a question
i have never dealt with a dual stage vtec so i am trying to figure out how to run it i am putting in a civic using the d16z6 vtec harness with the stock p28 how do i need to run the vtec wires since there is two instead of one should i run them all as one and have one straight up vtec or is it possible to run the two stage?

all responses will be used

its like having a d16y5 I guess, or a d15z1. Lame really, not the same thing as a d15b single stage vtec

there are 2 wires coming from it one from each cylenoid the guy wired it like a dumbass to a toggle switch and power line so he could cut it on and off i was just wondering if there is a way to run the two stage or if i can only do it as a one stage and tie the 2 wires together into the one so let me know what yall got

if i remember right the 2-3 stage did come in the jdm d15b but not for more power just for economy fuel or something like that...but when i had mines it was pretty fast in a coupe...

these are funny motors, first 2 stage vtec is for economy, not performance.

there are 4 d15b

the most common d15b is the vtec model closest to the d16z6. same head, shorter stroke.

d15b non vtec (have one in my car) same as a d16z6 (just z6 bottom end with a shorter stroke) and a d15b7 head

d15b 2 stage vtec - has a vtec that engages between 0 and 2500 rpms (it turns off 4 intake valves and leans out fuel mixture to get really good highway), and the second stage that engages about 4800 more for performance

d15b 3 stage vtec has a vtec that engages between 0 and 2500 rpms (it turns off 4 intake valves and leans out fuel mixture to get really good highway), and the second stage that engages about 3500 - 4600 more for performance, and the last that engages from 4600 to red line. most would say the normal cam profile is useless. remember your engine must be at correct operating temperature and have the correct oil pressure for the vtec solenoid to engages.

unless you find an advance controller that can turn on and off vtec throughout an rpm range, it is quite useless. find the correct ecu and pin for vtec.
