Bought a civic off him with a funky title. He told me he "wouldn't leave me hanging" in trying to get it taken car of. I've yet to hear from him. Not a man of his word.

Also, said everything was good with the car. I swapped out clusters and low and behold check engine light was on. The bulb was removed.

Avoid this guy...

What exactly is up with the title? Did you test drive the car at all?

Title bond should get it corrected, but he has not responded to me at all to get it worked out like he said he would. The car drives fine, but the check engine light needs to be taken care of in order to get the emissions done. It was on for the o2 sensor and crank sensor. I've taken care of the O2 but the crank sensor is going to cost a bit to get done.

Removing the bulb in the gauge cluster was a total dick move on his part... but then again maybe it was the previous owner..

it has more to do with the guy being A MAN OF HIS WORD rather than the issue with the title. i'm not bitching, just warning others that this guy DOES NOT KEEP HIS WORD.

you are welcome to start your own thread to ask that question. the purpose of this thread is to warn others that this guy is a not A MAN OF HIS WORD. am i not supposed to warn others?

just because someone gets "got" doesn't mean that they are supposed to keep quiet and not let others know about their experience. that is the very purpose of this section of the forum, to prevent others from getting "got".

gl bro thanks for the warning

Bought a civic off him with a funky title.

here's the mistake you made - and now you're paying for it.

Still does not excuse his behavior though, be more careful in the future.

This is a buyer-seller interaction thread, not a general discussion about buying and selling cars. Please keep it on topic.

I know the guy. His name is Jerry. He never seemed to be shady to me but I haven't done alot of business with him. OP, hope you get everything sorted out.

You have no proof that he removed the CEL so that would be hard, he could easily say that the new owner removed it to set him up and you wouldn't have enough evidence.

i think everyone should just not buy cars without a clean title in hand so nobody will have anymore of these problems, never take anyones word, no title no cash simple...
