GADSM’s Import Showdown is scheduled for Sunday May 2nd at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds Georgia.

This event is open to every car and bike, import or domestic. It is an event put on by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts and has classes that will accommodate all types of set ups with races that range between our all motor class (usually high 12’s to low 13’s) to the competitive Showdown class (usually <10’s) as well as plenty of test and tune time in between.

We are pleased to announce a new class for V8 Imports! Please spread the word and lets make this new class fun and exciting for all!

Competition rules are posted here.
http://www.importshowdown.com/Competitions.html (http://www.importshowdown.com/Competitions.html)

Please read and review these rules carefully! We have ramped up tech inspection even more and will be closely monitoring these rules to the letter. Cheaters will NOT BE TOLERATED

For more information about the event, visit

http://www.importshowdown.com/ (http://www.importshowdown.com/)

Pre-registration is now open and a tech card discount is applied to those who pre-register

Each class for I.S. is now sponsored! This is a great new way for our sponsers to get their name out even more and bring more traffic to the event. The more who attend, the greater the prize pool.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there this Spring for an exciting time!

Import Showdown is run by volunteers and entheusists. Sponsor money helps pay for the event it self and everything that goes with it including pay outs.
It's to have fun a and some competition. And win a little cash too.

Unfortunately, this is not at the NHRA level you're hoping for. But, maybe if enough fans and racers keep supporting it....it can grow to something more.

Although not a two year reign, these are what I received two out of the three tries in FWD class.

I'm planning on attending but I'm not sure yet if I'll be racing. With 172,000+ miles on the odometer now, the odds of my Neon letting out its magic smoke is greater. I don't want to be 150 miles away from home when it happens  but we shall see when qualifying comes around. LOL. :boobies:

No rain for us.

Just so you guys know, a lot of the sponsors have committed to coming to this event, not just putting their name on the flyer.

Shep Trans has confirmed he's coming down, and if everything goes as planned, he will be bringing one of the cars to run.

PTT will be there and is setting up a booth
Bullseye Power is setting up a booth and possibly bringing the drag diesel truck to do Exhibition runs
Magnus is trying to come down but not 100% yet
STM is coming and setting up a booth, not sure if the car is coming yet
CFT is coming and brining a few of their drag cars
Ron Shearer is coming
Dogbox is about 90% sure they're coming with the Evo to Race
Sparktech is coming and setting up a booth

Of course you know the local sponsors will be there racing, Turbo Dave, Topspeed, JJ Spec, 4G Performance, PHD, & JDM Parts Garage

Hey at least you asked! Some people wont read the rules and then get pissed off when we tell them what class they can and cant compete in. We simply can't please everyone and the rules we have are generally ment to blanked a wide range of racers and cars. We of course are always open to class suggestions and have made new classes and changed rules on a Showdown to Showdown basis at times to reflect these good suggestions. :-)

im putting the All motor with slicks question in front of the other event crew members. I proposed it be similar to IFO, where slicks are allowed for FWD only. Lexan would still not be allowed if we keep it as one class. If we end up splitting the class to a pro and street class, lexan might be allowed in the PRO class. However, its too late to add another class, so that would only be an option for future events.

Things are going to stay as they are for this race. The AM class was not intented to be a high competitive class. We may do some changes for the Fall race, but its to close to the date to make changes now. It's not really fair to the guys that have been planning against the current rules to change them at the last minute.

Speaking of voting and adding classes and whatnot. IFO will add a class FOR YOU specifically if and only IF there are 8 or more competitors on site to race the class. I know IFO is a little bigger business than ISD but its an idea to keep people happy, I guess it would kinda be a "run what you brung" all motor class. As long as the cars are safe to operate lol.

yeah thought it was that but it turned out that one of my injector cushions blew out of the manifold and was just chillin up on the injector somehow....MAJOR air leakage and under WOT going down the track when it happened all of the fuel for cylinder 1 was just blowing out of that open area cause it to bust up how it was. truly a great time today. I was so glad to see such an amazing turnout of people and racers. We had people come from as far as Chicago to support the event.
My car seems to still be plagued with the Showdown curse. I broke my rear differential before making it to the 60 ft mark so I was unable to compete. I think I may have broken a knuckle punching my steering wheel...lol j/k.
seriously though, there were a lot of fast cars there today and some really competitive racing and a good turnout of vendors with boths and/or tents. I really want to give a big thanks out to all the volunteer staffing that ran the event all day. I heard several compliments from people today saying how well the event had been organized and run. Lord Zed, you in particular did a super job over the PA system. I don't think it would have been possible for anyone to miss a round for lack of hearing it be announced.

So any how, here are some pics my girlfriend took and the one crappy video of my car destroying the rear diff.

First off I'm the blue MAZDA RX3 that ran 8's. I can say that the event was to die for and enjoy, the smiles on folks faces were priceless I will look forward to attending again. I only have a few issues. That track needs to be prepared a lil better for the next event ... I went to do a shake down pass and almost smack the wall.. I had intended to run a 7sec run that day but was unable because of traction issues. Safety is the most important thing. If we see idiots doing 360's in the parking lot or draging the cars in the paddock where our(kids, wife, or family) claim sancuary they need to be escorted out ASAP and never returned. Folks thats why we come to the track to feel safe and return back home to our loved ones.

I know exactly who you are talking about and I was just stretched thin to get over there and find them. Tower spotted them immediately and he quit from what they said. I'll second that. We do NOT tolorate people driving like that. The Evo going all Ken Block at the end of the day left immediatly after his bout of 360's (if we are talkign about the same car) and we didnt have the chance to chase him down. We take safty to the utmost concern. Not only does it risk the safty of our spectators, but we dont want any trouble with the track for people acting this childish. I constantly try and announce to keep the speeds down and to drive safely. We have and will eject any one who cant follow those simple rules.

My class I entered was Showdown.. The broken parts could hve been several things as well... Im only bringing after action comments for next time, the track team were very friendly and the Tec team were very savy(knowledgable) in what the were looking at. We are all out hear to learn from others and take it back to our home front to do better next go around. When this event brings more single digit import cars the level of respect and preparation will be expected always. well ive never hooked on drag radials so i left on the stage limiter which is setup for slicks (6,000) excpecting it to blow them up. It was first round qualifying so i didnt care just wanted to see what the radials would do well they hooked and broke a 400hp axle . I never expected that to happen at all and no im not in a 7 second car just saying i run this track all year and for this track it was hooking thats all.

well ive never hooked on drag radials so i left on the stage limiter which is setup for slicks (6,000) excpecting it to blow them up. It was first round qualifying so i didnt care just wanted to see what the radials would do well they hooked and broke a 400hp axle . I never expected that to happen at all and no im not in a 7 second car just saying i run this track all year and for this track it was hooking thats all.

Congrads brotha... I dont want the thread to be about a seasonal race car v.s. a full blown drag car hooking on whatever type of tires. I 've raced many tracks and if you were to see the car slide from the 8th down you would know what Im talking about. A 400hp street car with open axles lsd or open diff is a breeze to tame v.s. a 4digit hp scaled chassie car solid rearend with a spool on slicks. Its not my first rodeo i have a bit of knowledge how much a track has been prep, dragged, sprayed, and blown and how much power to put down....
The event was great love the import scene no more attacks on the tracks preparation it was supposed to be constructive ...... lord

What happened with your car?

A few shitty passes trying to learn the new clutch. The last pass wasnt looking too bad then poof... Something blew compression into the crank case, I have pittled with taking it apart but pretty unmotivated at the moment. Its seems its twice as hard to take everything loose when its all covered in oil from the valve cover gasket blowing out. Anyone have a video of it?

If you guys have questions, suggestions, or concerns about the event please PM me. Myself and a few others run the event with the help of the volunteers. Final decisions towards the rules are left up to Gadsm.org officers and a few chosen members. Feel free to discuss anything you want to address on Gadsm.org under the Import Showdown section of our website. If you need to speak with someone about the event PM Gastroker, Lord Zed or myself. Their are other officers on this board but I am unaware of screen names here. The best way to get your suggestions through are to come on Gadsm.org.

We are open to suggestions and the consensus is that people want slicks in the All Motor class.

Top_Speed, I spoke with you on the phone the other day feel free to call me with any questions. I will get you the information as promised, still re-cooperating after the event and rounding out some other projects.

Pretty sure he's talking about his personal sponsors pay him x amount for winning or placing in a race. Competition Clutch has that program.
