the last RPG game that i played was Mario RPG, and that was on super nintendo
though the game doesn't look half bad
i am just not sure if i could get into the whole walking around, increasing my lvl or whatever like some pokemon game, but if i hear good things about it when it does come out i would be open minded about checking it out...
so please lmk when you guys get this shit, mmkay!
ive been pretty bored recently, and getting really tired of playing tekken 6 and modern warfare 2 all the time
my personal joystick is getting pretty boring as well...
i wanna play something new - something exciting!! something that makes me stay up till 4 in the morning :/

definitely man, the entire GOD series is great. U def need to play the first 2 to get a feel of the game and the story b/c it all ties in. The collection pack is like $30 or $40 dollars in the stores for the first 2 on PS3 now
im prob gonna get it for Xbox... soon... cant wait to get into it!

ps3 version is definitely the one to get cause of the higher resolution graphics since the bluray disc can hold more data. unfortunately for me, im stuck with the 360

I think its one of those games where you need to have played atleast one of the previous versions to know a little of what is happening.
Im really thinking of picking this up.

Nope. The only story that spanned more than on FF game was X-2.

Watch the review online at gamespot
it ditches the free roaming maps to streamline gameplay , there is some form of xp as everything "levels" up

I am playing it.. I LOVE it. Looks great.
Yes it ditches the freeroam and classic airship. But the story is REALLY great so far. You will be lost at first but everything starts to pick up around the time you learn the summons

The graphics are prob the best I've seen on a console and on ps3
the story is hard to figure out what's going on as there is no backstory yet but I can sense it's coming
attack menu is cool and new
I haven't played a ff since ff7 and this one is really good

sadly enough, im a good 25 hours into the game (dont judge me, im on spring break and i had three straight days off of work). it is... phenomenal. the graphics are absolutely nuts, and what i really like is the fact that the combat system and chystalarium both just get more and more intricate... its as if the game blossoms. i love it.
just finished chapter 10 earlier. there are only 13 chapters, but supposedly the word is that there are a solid 50 hours of gameplay, so i guess these last 3 chapters are just gonna be massive.

I have a feeling the first 2-3 hours are just setting the game up and getting you used to the attack system and such. I'm about 2-3 hours in and it's addicting but I'm still waiting for it to really open up.
So far the shopping system seems useless as there's nothing in it, but again I think it comes alive later on

LOL @ "first 2-3 hours". The first 20 hours is a massive tutorial. The combat system gets more and more intricate. And the shopping system is still expanding, too. Well, actually just more stores and items are available, bit you know what I mean.

over 20 hours of tutorials?? talk about being overly noob-friendly
ff died after ffx when the real creators left the company. i just hope i didnt waste 63 bucks on this one..

So far the game is graphically amazing and is very fun. The battles can be a challenge, such as Odin and some other bosses. I am currently 10hrs in and have loved it thus far. My only complaint is that it is very linear. No room for exploration like in the previous games.

not literally. im just saying the combat system isn't fully fleshed out until a good 20 hours in. it builds on itself, so in essence its a "tutorial" in that its not so overwhelming all at once. you master one aspect, and then another is introduced. make sense?

It starts to get better once your characters become L'cie, then you actually get shit to help build your characters. The first 2 hours you are just fighting and getting nothing for it. Its very easy compared to other FF, you get auto an auto attack function which makes everything easy. I cant stand the characters in the game. The main character is a bitch, the red head is annoying, the dood with the beanie is too freakin emo, and the little boy is a damn baby. And the black guy is the typical comic relief. They need to bring back the old school FF formula. I miss being able to rename everyone, now im stuck with stupid names like lighting, hope, and snow....

They went back to turn based attacks in this one right? I hated the realtime combat they had in Final Fantasy X-2.

damn, im one of the few ppl to get this shit like the day after it came out.... but some of you dorks are chapters ahead of me! haha im only on chapter 4
so far though the games pretty entertaining
i kinda dislike the fact that you dont get random battles by walking around like previous FFs and other rpg style games, and that you can only use the leader in a battle... YAWN!!!!
other than that though i give the game a 7/10

I'm now on chapter 9 I think. Finally have everyone reunited in my battle party, most people weapons are at level 7+ , crystariums are maxed out for now.
So far the story is really good and keeps me def interested. The scene where Snow rides in on his motorcycle is pretty sick.
My only gripe is the weapons upgrading. I have a weapon that is at level 9 that I got back in chapter 3. I find a weapon in chapter 8 and it's so far behind my current weapon it's not worth switching. You also get almost nothing for "dismantling" your curret weapon to try an upgrade the new weapon. You also have to spend a ton of money buying items to cash in for exp to upgrade your weapon.

20+ hours in and still not done....I like this. The games out lately have been possible to beat in a weekend or even a day if you really sit down and play. Probably getting it after work.

I'm around chapter 10, You will eventually be able to change your team members around making whoever leader or whatever. I thought it was kind of gay how I can now finally become a full l'cie? That just defeats the purpose of the difference in character usage? Ya know? But oh well, more CP to burn, I guess? So far, the game is pretty impressive. Alot of people keep mentioning it would be great to be able to control every single character's ATB bars in combat but I think that'll just be overkill because controlling the leader is already massive enough. Besides, you're basically controlling everybody by inputting your commands and Paradigm setup. Snow is a beast but Lighting is beastier because she has everything needed to beat anybody. The HP in some enemiies are phenominal; crazy 400k and even higher. As soon as you are able to switch party members around, it gets even harder because you have to choose the right group of people to win boss fights. The summons are probably the hardest combat fights; just picture fighting them @ their full potential. That's crazy! So far, graphics are immaculate, gameplay gets better and better; love using the summons. I watch the animation everytime. :D I always fight every single enemy I see; I clear the whole stage just to gain CP! Ain't scared of nobody!! haha But yea, get the game and enjoy! It won't be a dissapointment; and don't compare it to other previous FF series because the companies goal is to make it different every time!

Look through your components list and find certain items to sell like credit chips, moogle puppet, nuggets, ingots, perfume and various seeds. They are meant to be sold for large amounts of money. I stuck with 3 characters and upgraded all their weapons to max. Made things a bit easier. The curve is somewhat sharp if you don't keep your character's stats maxxed.

lol name one RPG or MMORPG that didnt at one point require some type of grindingI'm not suggesting that its outside the realm of normalcy for the genre... but its been a long time since I've played a "J-RPG". Bioware has spoiled me with their brand of Western RPGs; I'd just forgotten how repetitive it sometimes gets.
And its not so much the grinding in and of itself, its the fact that it suddenly occurs after 10 chapters of fluid, relatively fast storyline progression. Then all the sudden, BAM. 10-20 hours of side quests and paradigm shifts over and over again, all in a very repetitive environment (its one massive field with a few caves, more or less).
