Post your car's gauges. Always interesting to me to see how every manufacturer does it differently. :goodjob:

My gauges rest at 500 RPM and 15 mph. I don't understand it either...wacky Italians. CEL isn't actually on...I just had the key in the accessory position.

I love Mercedes gauges...but I wonder, why would they put in an analog clock in the cluster? I'd save it for the dashboard if at all. It just seems so out of place.

Here is out my GS 450h hybrid...you will notice the tach is gone and a battery power meter is in place....

Driving the car, it acts like a battery tach. When you at a stop, the needle stays in the blue range and when you punch it, you see it rise up like a tach.
http://l.yimg.com/dv/izp/lexus_gs_450h_sedan_2008_dashboard_instrumentclust er.jpg

Okay so to better help explain I took some pics after inner tonight. Notice we have those beautiful Titanium Gauges but sorry for the quality, it was my iPhone and my left hand wasn't too steady.

This is traveling at about 65 mph using gas only. As you can see the battery is not being used so the power meter is on low/0.
http://i41.tinypic.com/f1hbop.jpg

This next pic is when I hit the gas at half throttle, enough to engage the battery. As you can see the battery is now being used and it is reflected in the power meter. This is similar to how the revs in a traditional car rise when you want to speed up.

http://i43.tinypic.com/5xstj5.jpg

The next pic shows the level of the power meter it at full throttle (I let off the gas quickly as my G/F was following me :) ) and as you can see most all of the battery is being used. This is when you get the class leading passing power. I was at 85 MPH in a blink.
http://i40.tinypic.com/11tu2hy.jpg

I hope this better explains how the power meter on the 450h works :)
