The Cobra is mine and I was definitely at full throttle. With the stock hood blanket and intake the blower makes very little sound on the inside of the car. At the time the car was stock so it was probably only running 370-390whp...nowhere near 500whp. Lol

Now the car is tuned at 519whp/514wtq. Check out the video on the dyno in Spence680's other videos.

You can tell that rsx is quick but in the end he beat a cobra with a catback.....its nice to see 4 bangers pull like that but its no great accomplishment. A pulley and a tune and that cobra is untouchable to that rsx. It would take alot more than a 130 shot.

Its not really a better platform if you are going to keep the power >500. Both can't handle more than that on a stock bottom end. The S197 he has already has a 31 spline rear end. Trans in the Mach is no better. The only better part is the 4v heads over 3v which don't really come into play unless you want to make big power.

STOCK 3 valves are good for mid 13s with a good driver.

There are bolt on tuned 3 valves running mid to high 12s with a drag radial.

I've always heard that 420-430 is pretty much the limit on them. The crank was only forged in the manual tranny cars, due to the 1000rpm higher redline.

It would be cheaper to buy a Cobra, rather than build the motor on a Mach 1, and then boost it. A Cobra would be a LOT cheaper and a LOT more reliable.

i'm already making over 500hp and close to 600ft lbs of torque on a stock short block before we turn it up a notch in the next couple weeks, with a lot of stock parts....there isn't a mach 1 owner out there that will ever claim that

of course if we're being honest with ourselves i'd actually end up passing on a GTO and going with a ss camaro...less weight right out of the gate plus the same potential in the drivetrain

Hey Evil Goat, I thought the Camaros were actually heavier then the GTOs? GTO's weigh like 3725 lbs stock and a camaro is over 3800 stock... Truthfully i wouldnt buy a new camaro. I'd stick with the goat or buy a corvette if you want gm power.

ON EDIT: I was looking at curb weights for them online, and they seem to be right around 3750-3800 lbs. no lighter then the goat at all. :D
