Looking for a new DSLR I can use for fun and work. I'm pretty new to this but time has come for me to pick up something rather than a point and shoot. Right now I'm debating between the D90 and D5000 based on price range and personal preference. I'll be working with a lot of glass art. Like the picture below. What are yalls thoughts and opinions? What camera would be best and what type of lens should I use? Thanks.

I recommend D90 over D5000. With lil more money you get a whole lot more with D90. With D5000 you can only autofocus using AF-S lens. While with D90 you can use a wide range of AF lenses including AF-S. You have more choices for lens using D90.

D90 has build-in wireless commander (CLS) which you can trigger the off- camera flash wirelessly using pop up flash. D5000 does not have this, and you have to buy SU-800 (~$250) to get it to work. Nikon makes real battery grip for D90. Those are just a few advantages of D90 over D5000.

I don't see your pic of the art work.

Do you think Nikon will release a upgraded version of the D90 within the year? After reading a lot of reviews I'm leaning more towards the D90 right now. Thanks for the input.

That's weird, here I'll try putting it up through photobucket.

Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Lens or Nikon 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro-Nikkor Lens? Not sure what all that stand for yet still reading up on all this.

if your using those cameras i listed then just the AF one.

if your using a d40, d60, d3000 or d5000 you have to buy the AF-S which is alot more $

Okay, I'll take a look at it. Those lenses are pretty pricey on amazon. What lens did you use to do all your car photography?
