okay i have a 91 rex si and when i first got it, it started making a weird sound in first gear. its not like a grinding and its not when i shift. its when im in the gear. now every day but not all the time, second and third have started with this and its getting pretty loud sometimes. i know its not the motor for sure. it might be a bearing or just cause of the cold?

i need some good advice whether i should expect my tranny to go out soon or if its something minor and cheap to take care of.

thanks.

any NOT assholish advice is appreciated.

i have had main bearings go bad and my 91 hatch i had made a diff noise than my si when driving. main bearings would silence when you push the clutch in but i think silversol is right, describing the sound better or video is good too. it took a while for my main bearing issue to be heard by honda when it had a warranty.

alright. i mean is it something i need to take care of pretty soon? or is it something that could wait a couple more weeks? cause it doesnt always like to do that. just a few times a day just to mess with me.

No. Def continue to drive around in a car that is making a noise that you have no idea what it could be so it could potentially leave you stranded somewhere.

Take it to a shop and get it properly diagnosed and repaired.
