I think the only time that paint job looks good is when its in the dark and not in comparison to other paint jobs. If I were to talk down a parking like and walk past this car between an ugly minivan and a halfway decent at least clean truck, I'd pay no attention to it. Either way; Good thing you're happy with it because I don't have to drive/look at it everyday.

Car looks pretty good.
The pics are underexposed, the lighting is spotty, and the locale does nothing for the pics.
What equipment are you using?

canon t1i, 18-55 kit, cactus v4's and a vivtar 285hv. i have another receiver and was going to use a vivitar 283 in conjunction with the 285, however upon further inspection and attempts to use it, its broke. therefore all lighting was done via one off camera flash with 10ft impact lightstands. No lightboxes/softboxes/beautydishes used either. just the raw flash head.

I would definitely start out using it during the day and practice using it to accent whatever car you are shooting. After that, start moving around, and merging the images.
From my experience, trying to properly light a car in pitch black with one light is near impossible, and way too frustrating.

If you're only using one flash then you're gonna need to learn how to merge photos and multiple exposures. You would have been better off shooting during sunset and using natural light. As long as the person that owns the car is happy that's all that matters lol!

that flash doesn't have the power a strobe does why would i try and use it during the day? and yes the shoot was off timing wise to get some decent light at sunset to give more ambient, but whatever. and it wasn't that frustrating. i knew i only had that to work with so i did what i thought was best and would give the best results.
edit - speed you got yours in before i could post, lols

Where's this ambient light you speak of?

I've used my SB600 plenty of times during the day, the pic's aren't bad man. I'm just throwing out some experience that I've had, take it or leave it.

i'll def try it out, it can't hurt anything.
Kit isn't too crazy, color isn't too crazy.
It's actually all painted.
Pretty decent looking car :)
Pictures are alright.
