My friend just went and picked up a GSR swap that is supposedly an obd2 motor from a 97 integra, but my question is did the gsr engine harness for obd2 have the shock tower plugs for the engine harness to plug to or did the engine harness run inside the car and plug directly to the ecu, think they may have sold him an obd1 motor because my obd2 civic w/b16 harness went directly to the ecu... reps for anyone who can help me out, the block code is 1304641

to answer your question, Yes the 1997 gsr has the shock tower plugs...

in that case what is needed to put it in an obd2 car that has no shock tower harness and just ran straight to the ecu, thanks for clearing that up

what car are you trying to put it in ? Why not just use the correct harness for that car ?

missing the harness from the car, its a 97 civic coupe ex shell would it be easier to just use a 97 ex harness will all the plugs work right with the gsr

If you are putting the gsr motor on to a 1996-2000 civic, you would need the harness of the current motor thats in the civic.

well i have the harness that came on the us spec obd2 gsr motor but only runs to the strut tower plugs and the civic has no plugs on the shock tower the original harness on the d16y8 ran all the way from engine to ecu, so is there another half to the harness, does seem easier to use the stock d16y8 harness

You can't use anyone other harness but the one off a 96-00 civic. The integra harness doesn't run all the way into the ECU.

Your best option would be to try and find the 96-98 civic EX harness. Would be alot easier.

make sure it's for a y8 or EX motor that has the vtec plug, oil pressure switch and the crankshaft fluctuation sensor, as long as ur running an obd-2 ecu and motor. if it's obd-1 it doesn' have it on crankshaft pulley.
