my r154 transmission wont change gears anymore... im swapping the 2jz into an s13 and im using a r154... i added a shifter extension and after that i tried to put it in one of the gears but it wont go in... all it has is the neutral play... i took it back apart to look at it and i cant move any of the 3 gear selectors inside the transmittion... i dont know if it would be best to have oil in it and installed in the car and try it once its running... or if there is a problem... it went into gear fine at one point.... any help?? thanx

im guessing your trying to put it in gear/change cgear without transmission fluid? it wont go into gear without fluid i believe. just like if your low on fluid in your tranny, you cant put it into gear or grind into gear. try giving it fluid then see if it'll go into gears.

rotate the input shaft and it will let it go into each gear a little easier. It may just be caught on the syncro teeth. If that doesn't work then one of the shift forks is probably stuck and you will have to take it apart to fix that. You put a shifter extension on it so that is most likely what happened. If it did, you will have to redesign your extension.

i tried rotating the input shaft..nothing.. wen i put the ext shifter on at first it was fine... it shifted and it was lined up perfectly... thats how i know it was designed good.. then after the test fit is wen it didnt budge.. after i sealed it with silicone. so where are the shifter forks?? and how can i find out if one of the shifter forks are stuck?? is it possible to fix myself??.........thanx

You would have to take the tailshaft of the tranny off first. There are some rods in the tranny, they all have to be set in neutral. Most likely 2 of them are in a gear. Only one can be in a gear at a time. The rods have 3 positions, forward, back and middle. Put them all in the middle position and it should be in neutral.
