View Full Version : putting a new clutch in...break in??

i'm installing an exedy clutch in my 98 civic(b16a-gsr tranny) for the break in period can i just get on the interstate and ride the fuck out or do i have to drive in the city where i'm shifting gears??? please let me know asap!!! thanks.

get on the expressway and drive a few hundred miles shifting from 4th to 5th and vise versa(or 6th if you have a 6spd).

normal clutch break in period is about 500 miles. after that it should be broken in.

Just drive the vehicle like normal for 500 miles. Don't dog the hell out of it or else you be putting another exedy in shortly, that or replacing your fork and pressure plate.

I would drive it city and highway to break it in.

depends on what stage it is. buddy of mine put a stage 3 in his civic (b18c1, gsr tranny) and I think it took him closer to 1,000 mi. to break it in. i would ride the clutch in the higher gears so there won't be as much strain on the motor, but thats just me.

to break it in you have to be using it... so highway = bad .... unless you do 4 to 5th alot like someone said
