We recently had a customer come in for a stereo install. He brought us all the components (used), all we had to do we re-install everything and make some minor adjustments (didn't come complete). At the end of the day, our customer was very pleased as we went above and beyond his expectations.

He already had a box which was carpeted. We stripped the carpet and applied a carbon fiber vinyl for a sleeker look. Made him an amp rack, installed his double din headunit, nav, xm radio, mb quart q series components, all new wiring, dynomat, amps, sub, and a few other things. here's a few pics that we took. wish he at least had a new speaker cover for the sub.. you'll see why. we forgot to get pics of the interior after all was said and done. when he comes back, we'll be sure to remember to take some more pics.

We wish we could have done the whole project from scratch, as we noticed a few issues here and there, but the customer got a great deal on all of his parts. this was a very basic install, nothing crazy, just enough for the daily commute. :thumb:

You running both amps off that 8 gauge? Or is that the old wiring?

You don't see 2 amps to 1 sub very often. looks pretty good.

^^ one amp is for the components, the other, for the sub.

2 amps for what looks like a 10w6v2 since both amps look to be bridged? looks pretty decent though :)

what? no. it appears that the 4 channel on the left is running the interior speakers and the 2 channel on the right is bridged to the sub.

install looks pretty clean. any pics of the deck install?

A new grill and trim panels would clean it up. (If customer wanted it) The carbon vinyl looks pretty good; but I'd rather use it for accents instead of the whole top of the box. ex. http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs072.snc3/13955_1254830683631_1015496190_30808078_5856201_n. jpg Good install :goodjob:

^^ i hear ya... if we actually designed the box, we would have gone a completely different route. we had to work with what we were given. considering the price that he paid, he got a hellova deal. :P

Hey I was wondering, I have my whole trunk dynamated, and I am doing a 97-99 conversion on my Maxima within the next few weeks, which requires me to change trunk lids. Is dynamat transferrable? Can I just peel off the dynamat on my current trunk lid and stick it to my new lid?

^^ never actually tried to remove and reinstall dynomat. no idea if its going to deteriorate as you pull it off. sorry.

a system done correctly doesnt have to be flashy

I know. If it was mine, I would have preferred the amps to be hidden and the sub more discreet.

Not a fan of subwoofers, really. I prefer a nice, crisp, clean sound. Nice looking install, but if I were going to put a "system" in my car, or a Vette, it would have been practically hidden.:2cents:

thats because you have a skewed view of subs..low end bass completes music,im not talking about 4 12 rattling your fucking hatch apart..im talking the 80 hertz and down that subs take care of

as far as the dash is concerned, it looks like any other vette w/ a flipout screen. id say the "carbon" looked pretty good for what is was used for ( a refinish and and accent for the amp rack)
the vinyl is a little unforgiving to surface inconsistencies so sanding is necessary to get all the glue and old carpet off. all in all, the car sounds pretty good for some older alpine and a whole lot of gear in the car (which is hidden, this system has all the bells and whistles)

Our interiors are so shitty... System is too flashy for me, the trunk is not usable.

I wouldnt say entirely not usable. but discreet is harder to do with amps tht size in a car of tht configuration. Where they are seemed to be the logical location given tht the box and rack are technically "one piece". I didnt have to mount to FG parts or structures but still get a pretty rigid structure from it so he can sling the car as hard as he likes and not worry about anything breaking. if somehow I can figure out a way to shove those amps in the cabin without sacrificing sitting space or utility with tht box
(behind the seats/dash doesnt work btw lol) Ill let you know
