380 pocket pistol

I was at the range Sunday and someone had a 380 pistol that looked like a LCP sized glock. Anyone know the name off hand. I handled and and it seemed solid as hell. I loved the feel and would like to do some research. Thanks

The Kahr Arms P380 is the most Glock-like .380 auto - note that most .380 auto pistols don't even have a locking slide nor slide stop/release lever, but the P380 does:

That would be a Sig P238. It is the same size as the Kahr Arms 9mm PM9. the P238 is exactly like a mini 1911 in that it has a safety, has an external hammer, etc.

I happen to own both a PM9 and a PM40 and the PM40 fires the .40 S&W round and is still the same size as the Sig P238:

It was a joke. Not to mention I was slightly to fully blown hammered when I posted it. lolzers. I've never been one of those ".45 ACP or you might as well use a sharp stick" type of believers. People get killed with .25ACP...

I am still sticking to my guns (pun intended) when I say why carry a .380 auto (such as the not as tiny Sig P238) when you can have more kinetic energy delivered per shot from a same-sized pistol.

How could they be if the recoil is the same, or more, when shooting the smaller caliber?

Shoot a Kel-Tec P3-AT, then shoot a Kahr PM9 - see which one nets you tighter groups.

Shoot a Sig P238 and then shoot a Kahr PM9...you get the idea.

I will absolutely chime in when I see a larger .380 auto pistol being suggested when the same size frame (and lighter) 9mm luger pistol can be had.

Also good luck being able to practice with .380 auto - where will you be buying it again? I can buy 9mm luger and .40 S&W by hundreds of rounds from Dick's sporting goods down the street, or even my local Wal-Mart. Neither has .380 in stock...ever.

Can't be more accurate if you can't even go shooting due to no ammo.

I see you're taking the wrong street, that's fine
However,
I was debating the recoil of say a .380 vs. a .45 caliber. Also, each person is different and you got to look at gender when considering a choice. The "point" of ammo availability is irrelevant since .380 is purely an example.
Also, I'm not arguing you just made a joke of a statement (your words) and I was stating you had a good post besides that.

Understood, but there are more tactful ways to make your point rather than labeling something I posted as "stupidity" especially since it was a joke. It's like the old adage:

"If you think caliber "X" is so weak then how about you stand there and let me shoot you with it."

Then again I also like the one that goes:

I've had the pleasure of shooting two different CW40s and those are nice. I've not shot a CW9, but I'm sure they shoot very well. I've shot the PM9 enough now to say that it's an accurate little bastard. I'll be breaking the PM40 in within a week, so I can't say now nasty that little bitch is.

If it's absolutely deep concealment you are after then the PM9 offers that much smaller dimensions than the CW9. Here's my PM9 and a friend's CW40 - keep in mind the CW40 and CW9 are 100% identical in size except that the CW40 is only .04'' thicker - can't really be seen or felt IMO. What I'm saying is the following pics do a good job of comparing the size of a PM9/40 to that of the CW9/40:

The CW is the larger of the two as seen in the pictures. If the "pinky dangle" doesn't work for you then you can always add a pinky extension from Pearce Grip, or simply pop in the supplied +1 mag that comes with the PM series pistols.

...and back on track something that should be considered when choosing a small .380 auto pistol is the sights that are on the pistol. No the .380 auto platform probably isn't the one that you'd be sighting in with and entering competitions with, but if you ever needed accuracy it's nice to have nice sights. Some .380s have some really crappy/nonexistant sights.

380s are good defense round. small enough to not make an exit wound ( depending on what point you shot at ) yet big enough to make an example out of the unfortunate. ive considered keeping my XDM in the car and buying a sub-compact 9mm Glock for carrying.

as for any particular gun's sights, you aim small, you miss small.

Hey SVT have you handled a sub compact Glock? I own a G39, the "baby" Glock frame in .45 GAP caliber. Back when I bought it I was enamored by its size because compared to all the guns at the store it was small, and in .45 GAP it packed a nasty defense round with a lot of energy.

It was great for a while but after picking up a Kahr pistol I quickly realized the shortcomings of Glock being that it is a double stack, thick-ass pistol that grows bothersome after a few hours of carrying it. Don't get me wrong - the Glock is an excellent shooter. I love shooting it, and don't mind carrying it for a few hours at a time, but anything longer than that and it starts sucking. It is nice to have a nasty round in such a small package though - here's a .45 GAP vs. a 9mm luger in the exact same CCI Speer Gold Dot:

It looks small enough until you set it side by side with a Kahr.

Kahr CW9 (a gun that can be found new for right at $400.00-$450.00) and Baby Glock - to be fair the onky extension can come off of the Baby Glock to give it the smaller grip size, but that's where the PM9 comes in later...

I am using the CW9 as an example because you can find it as cheap or cheaper than the comparable Glock 26/27/29/33/39 Baby Glock frame.

If you don't mind spending some extra money for even smaller dimensions then the PM9 is that much smaller than Glock's smallest sub compact - here you see the slide length difference:

Just pointing out that there are other, smaller options for a 9mm conceal/carry pistol other than Glock. Obviously I love Glock, but realze their limitations because they refuse to make a true subcompact pistol in single stack. The only single stack they offer is the Glock 36 which is still a fat ass, and it's nowhere near as small length/height wise as the Baby Glock 26/27/29/33/39.

You could also look at the wonderfully inexpensive Kel-Tec PF-9 for a small 9mm. They go for $300.00 or so brand new.

I will never own another Kel-tec. It just felt cheap and didn't like it jamming on me. I love Springfield Armory and will likely get their sub-compact 9mm for carrying. .45 is just too big for a compact gun. gotta have a good balance with weight and size of the round.

thats weird svt sanctuary i have a keltec pf9 for a while and never had any jamming problems and the weapon has fell a few times lol! very very light and easy to loose in your pocket. but has a 9mm crammed in that small gun! recoil is nuts though

I think it was the reloads I was using at Autreys that day but it jammed several times. My new SA-XDM .40 jammed a couple of times using the same "blue box" reloads so that may be what it was. When I had the Kel-Tec PF9 and it jammed, I figured it was the gun and got rid of it. I just prefer SA.
