They sell a bootleg box set over here that has all 100 of the first UFC PPVs for like $20, I watched most of them a couple months ago, shit is bad ass, bare knuckle with no rules FTW...

Yeah but it cant be like that, stomping peoples heads while they are on the ground and shit would have led to death many times by now...

I agree it was fucking awesome to watch though...

I love watching old school UFC

UFC came out in the 90s, lolol. Nothing "old school" about the 90s.

I thought you had it mixed up with something really old school. Old ass wrestling from back in the 80s. I used to watch GLOW back in 1985 and 1986. Didn't last long, though, but it was fun to watch as a 15/16 year old. Lolol. Later, QD.

"UFC" yes, but not "MMA". MMA is a new(er) term, but it's not a new sport at all. Pankration, Vale Tudo, etc, had been going on for a VERY long time in other places, like Brazil and Japan. When the US first got exposed to "MMA", it wasn't called MMA. It was called NHB or "No Holds Barred". MMA is a term made up by New Japan Pro Wrestling's Hisashi Shinma in the 70's. The UFC debuted in 1993, and the term "MMA" wasn't even used in the U.S. until years later, when Jeff Blatnick tried to get all the reporters to switch from calling it NHB (figuring that would hurt in getting it sanctioned) to MMA (unaware of it being a pro wrestling term). I always found the last part so ironic, considering that most MMA fans look down on pro wrestling, yet love using the term "MMA" that originally CAME from pro wrestling!

Pride had those rules, with a well trained ref I dont see that being any more dangerous than any other strikes that are legal
