Just found out today, after the car was having problems, that sadly, the engine is blown :(, Im getting a new job here in a week or so, so I plan to rebuild it, however, I have no experience with rotaries. If someone has done it before, and has any tips on what NOT to do while in there, hit me up. It will live again!

EDIT: Update rear rotor is blown, with no compression, Tryed seafoam, same effect.

ok guys, a good friend of mine is finally opening his business and i thought i'd put a word out for him. he's having a huge sale at his place up by the mall of ga this coming saturday. i know it' kind of short notice, but i also know that most of you guys don't pan far ahead, so you should be able to show up and support a fellow rotary enthusiast who is starting his dream business. anyway, here's a "cut and paste" from his website, (RXZotic.com) talking about the sale on saturday, so i'll just let you read about it here. check out his site if you get a chance. he's still working on it and there's new stuff everyday.

How much are you looking at paying for the whole swap? If its kinda cheap, it might be an option.

I'm looking at $1500 Shipped for the full swap (engine, tranny, ecu and uncut harness), it also comes with a 90 Day Warranty.

But if not, I am willing to sell my NA set up. I do not know the condition of the engine because the harnesses are destroyed. But I'll let it go cheap. Might be able to pull some spare parts off it.

Do you know if it runs? or what kind of miles it had? But thats a really good price for the full swap.

go on rx7club and talk to japan to LA. hes very reputable.

also most places dont offer a 90 day warranty. this is because most of the time its just user error that breaks the engine in 90 days.

i still say go to that sale and pick up some good rotor housings and some rotors.

make sure they are for your series though.

That is so true about user error.

It should run, miles are between 30k-55k.

For me, the engine I am getting has not been. Mine is coming with all service records, mileage, warranty and is still sitting in a running, unwrecked car right now, and no it is not stolen.

LS1 swap would be the shit

Justin51982
02-18-2010, 04:08 PM
I disagree, if you want an LS1 buy a vette, you buy an RX7 for a rotary. I guess it's to each their own, but the way I see it, if you want an import, you buy an import, if you want a domestic, buy a domestic, but why take a domestic engine and toss it into an import. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I do have an S4 manifold, but I was told an S4 mani can function fine on an S5 motor, just won't produce as much power.

Even so, if you want that in an rx7 then you do the 3-rotor or a 4-rotor. If you want a domestic engine, buy a domestic car. That doesn't change it.

sorry...I should have added "with daily driven reliability". How much power can you get out of a 3 or 4 rotor? I have a hard time believing they can make more power than an LSx.

Oh, and fuck a Dodge...

Thank you for proving my point. Basically stock drivability on 91 octane. I bet it gets decent MPG considering the HP levels too. As far as the other video that was posted with the rotory in the BMW....lol, that [engine] setup isn't streetable for shit. Sick non the less though. That thing hooked up and dipped the fuck out.

Yup. But I know some people with Peripheral Ported 13B-RE engines daily driven and getting 18MPG. Not sure on HP but I know dam well it's well over 850HP. ;)

I wasn't aware of that type of efficiency out of those engines. How often do they have to be rebuilt? What kind of money has to be spent to attain those results?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a rotary hater or a V8 nut swinger (ok, maybe i am lol), but just an all around automotive enthusiast. I think one of the coolest, most unique swaps was the rotary in the nova (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcGZgz0yRbg) and the 2jz in the camaro (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=camaro+2jz&search_type=&aq=f)

a 13bre in any trim can be making that many miles per gallon. just takes a good tune.

however all of this while on a p port? no

:blah::blah::blah::blah::blah:

I have a couple friends who have both MPG on a PP. Don't get me wrong it sounds wrong, but they have driven their cars for 3 years now with PP but one of them is a 13B 6port which to me is amazing. But then again they tell me that 18MPG is highway not city. It does sound retarded though.

Now, I am fully aware that this car is an exception, but the Ultimate Aero TT has a 387ci twin turbo V8 making 1287hp/1112tq while still maintaining nearly 30mpg.....just sayin...

Also, slap a TT kit on a C6 Z06 and I'm sure you would be knocking on the door of 1000hp while getting solidly over 25mph on the highway.
