Since the 911 Turbo S is here to milk the last $$s off its customers, we know that the 997's run is up.

Goodbye:

"Clear differences between the 998 and the current 911 model are a pair of more upright headlights, a slightly longer body, and the side mirrors are now positioned at the side of the doors and not at the window.

It’s still too early to determine what changes Porsche has in store for the engine lineup, but expect to see the recently revised flat-six engine range carry over with only minimal updates – possibly for emissions and economy standards. The new PDK dual-clutch gearbox will also carry over as will a standard six-speed manual."

I love the steeper angle on the lights as well as the muscular shoulder lines. The front "whiskers" make it look catfishy, but we'll see I guess.

Feel free to add more content!

Thanks to "speedminded" for finding most of the pics!

brace for ricer comment...

will it have a nicer spoiler than the ones in the spy shot?

Ehhhh, still saving for my 997...looks good though. The rear looks a bit more stout, as well as the rear fenders.

My guess is that it's there to mess with the lines of the car.

Look at the picture, it clearly shows the mirrors attached at the window in one picture and on the door in another.

Ribbit! Ribbit!
Frogger coming through!
Ribbit!
The fact that it looks froglike aside, awesome. If i could afford one, I'd consider it, but I can't afford it so it makes no difference. lol

Hopefully the 996 turbos will drop a little more so I can comfortably pick one up.

Hell no they're not going to change it. If they do, it wont be a 911. Why break something that works?

If you ask me, they're backpedaling (with the lights) and going back to the 993 in many ways and fixing what they messed up with the 996 with the weird lights.

MeFryRice: You're right - these pics are from various time frames so you can expect inconsistencies.
However notice the mirror position on that 993 lol.

However notice the mirror position on that 993 lol.Was going to be my response. Also, the 996 headlights are the ONLY thing I don't like about that car. 993 and 997 are where it's at. That tear drop shit looks goofy.

Yeah, but Porsche needs to deliver something fresh besides the Panamera

And changing the 911 is it? Nah, that's why they don't ask you. Look at the late 70's and into the 80's. It was a good decision to keep it going.

Fail.

997>996>998
You can barely tell anything from those boss. :lmao:

The slight subtle changes make a world of difference for me, IDK its just how I feel. I will end up with a 996 as my first hahah will soon after graduate to a 997. woot. I hope..

They won't do too terribly much to it. The 997 just got refreshed, so the 998 won't be a radical evolution like the 993 > 996 or the 996 > 997.

You said it best.

I'm just trying to think of where else Porsche can go so quickly. Put a full-length tail-light on it and make it look more like the 993. That was my favorite of the body styles.

993 was the sexiest IMHO

Yeah, but Porsche needs to deliver something fresh besides the Panamera

The Carrera GT successor is underway and a possible return to LMP1 is enough workload for them.

Also, the Panamera will spawn a 2 door 928 successor.

It looks sad in the front. But that may be because of the poor offset.
