That's dedication to the game.

Didn't that car start out white and didnt really have any problems or body work needed?
I cant remember dudes name...he went to Import Alliance with us a couple years ago. Wasn't it K swapped and dude had a brother in FL with a Midori 1996 hatch that went with him.

I'm pretty sure if he has all the time to let it set in his garage while he builds it, it is not his daily driver. He probably only takes it out to a meet and parks it right back in his garage. You really think someone that has put that much money and time is gonna blow it by driving it everyday and leaving it parked somewhere?

His build reminds me a lot of Fuster_Cluck's. I will say I like Fuster_Cluck's better because he was local and you can't beat Midori Green :goodjob:

To all of you talking about "when he sells it" are only partially correct.

1st of all - do not dedicate this much time/ebnrgy on a CAR unless it's one that you are in love with and will always own it. Where a lot of you fuck up is that you have partially finished 6 or 8 cars in the last few years and still drive a piece of shit car b/c you don't really know what you want yet. I have only 2 cars in my stable that I will never sell - but that's more than most people. Some people are tossing money at cars they don't even plan to keep. If ur no tIN LOVE WITH IT then save your money.

Step 1 is to know what you want - to go this extreme you better believe that I would ALWAYS own it - theyd bury me in that car. You don't but this much effort into something to sell later unless you're Chip Foose Retarded and are more in love w/ the transformation than you are with crusing around in it.

Great work adn dedication - but also VERY much overkill for an item that spends it's entire life on the ground - lol. That's like buying a $900 pair of shoes just to walk around in. :)

Nice work, wrong car. I have love for hondas, but that is a considerable waste of money. This coming from someone that dumped a ton of money himself into a 95 civic, and then decided he was too old to be driving to work in it. I thought I would keep that car forever too. Truth is, after a while your tastes change.

Red_EJ1
02-10-2010, 01:17 AM
damn alot of haters on this one, the cold hard fact is he loves his car, and as far as its the wrong car, well i love my 93 civic coupe my dad loves his 72 gran torino hes restoring his and im doin myne, just taste when you love somthing you do the best and get the best, just like having a wife you wouldnt buy her cheap shit, and well if you do youe a half asser or just retarded, the man is doing great work, first build iv seen that i dint see one thing i dint like, rare i mind you, and do you really think hes gonna do all this and let it chill on the street doubt it, and really when you think about it its not that much money just alot of notice to detail and spent the big money on qaulity parts trust me i know, i went to honda and spent 500 and walked out with oil pump and all bearings, when i do start my complete rebuild it will be done with this qaulity of work.

Red_EJ1
02-10-2010, 01:21 AM

Dude here is my 95 civic that I had, and built for 7 yrs. I thought I would keep it forever. But guess what happened. I was almost 30, and I got tired of all the attention from teenage boys, got tired of riding around in a fwd, horribly weight balanced car with a rough suspension, and was actually embarrased to be seen pulling into work in it at my age. I took it to a trackday, and found out what a wasted effort it all was. Just the wrong platform to even start with. If you want to be 40 yrs old, and still want to drive around in a 90 something civic that's your perogative, but I doubt that will happen. The best thing I can say about my experience is I learned a lot. I did everything myself (except for paint). Obviously peoples tastes have changed since I had the car, and I'm sure it's considered rice today.

I hear you. I really cant wait to replace my car with a more comfortable car that blends in and be able to really do what I need to it. They say the best mod you can do for your track car is to buy a daily.

As I read your post I was thinking this where you buy an M3 and then I saw you sig. :) people grow older priorities change. None the less great build.

I like the custom seat job you had done. Where does one go for something like that?

There was a shop here off buford hwy that a lot of people used (I forget the name). I went there, and was not impressed. They didn't understand english, and only had 1 garage bay, and I did not want my car sitting outside (especially off buford hwy). So I did them myself. I ordered the leather from leatherseats.com. To be honest, it's really not that hard to do. Pull the seats out, take them apart, remove the hog rings and the fabric. Then lay out the leather, stretch, and ring it down. I was really impressed with how it turned out, looked a lot better than what that shop was producing.

Thanks man. I'm really not trying to hate here, just trying to put things into perspective for others. I wish someone had done that for me. I could of got a M3 a lot earlier, and paid it off already. I don't regret modding my car, but I did take it too far IMO. At the time I thought you could make a honda civic as fast, or what you wanted it to be. When I did sell it, I only got about 1/4 of the money I put into it. AND I did almost all the labor. So imagine if I had payed shops to do everything. It's not going to be worth much in the future. These are not like 60-70 model muscle car special editions that were only sold in the hundreds or thousands. There were over 100,000 civics sold every year in the us in the 90's.

well thats you.. the owner of jjspec, jimmy is not a teen age kid he still drives a honda. all this shows is that you dont love the company as much as i do. now i want you to think about the mustang, back in 64 1/2 when it first came out guys probly dint think much about it.... just think about the first owners who fell in love with that car only later to sell it. bet you ask them today and atleast half would say they regret it, not becouse how much they are worth, but becouse what those cars brought them, all the memorys of that car.. i take care of my car as if it were my child.. now when i have kids ya it probly will go down some in my list of things to worry about, but i can honestly say that i wont havea kid till i know that i can do it without the fear of having to sell my car, i can tell you know that as long as im alive my car will be with me:goodjob:

I seriously doubt that. I have owned probably 10 hondas over the years, as well as owned stock in the company for 5 yrs, and I will probably buy more in the future. I just sold my S2000. We still have a 2005 Acura TL, and a 2006 Acura MDX. I plan to get a 2008 MDX next yr to replace the 2006. I've got a lot of love for honda, and their philosophy, but I will never dump 10 times what one is worth into one again. I would much rather get a newer car every 2-3 yrs. Just makes the most financial sense, and I enjoy the new technology/conveinence/safety, etc that comes with each new one. But to each their own I suppose.

But look at how much these older cars were back in the day. 3, 4, 5 grand. They were mass produced, but in smaller numbers because there simply wasnt the population there is now. But the fact is that these ARE the hot rods of this generation. And there is no doubt that 20-30 years from now, a clean example like this car could easily fetch double or triple what he put in it.

I hope you're right. Would be cool to see. But just like the muscle cars that fetch lots of money today, people will most likely want low mileage, matching numbers, never wrecked, pure factory examples. I could be wrong. One side of me hated to sell my car, but I didn't exactly want to drive it anymore, and I had to make room for something else in the garage. I could see a low mileage NSX, S2000, Type-R with little to no mods fetch a lot of money in the future, but not modded civics. You never know though. Only time will tell.
