View Full Version : Handling Mods Should I Paint My Wheels?

The clear coat is peeling off my wheels, going to strip them and redo them. Was wondering if I should just leave them stripped and polish them out, possibly paint them white to match the car with a polished lip, or do a gunmetal color with polished lip?

could anybody photoshop that possibly? Just looking for opinions and trying to imagine what it might look like.

Well theyre already the gunmetal/titanium color with a polished lip that i fairly like. had looked into hyper black with a polish lip or something along those lines. then white kinda struck me so idk. wish i could photoshop worth a damn...

You think polished would be "over the top" and you're considering white or gunmetal? I don't see how polished would be "bling" at all. Me? I wouldn't consider white or gunmetal. Later, QD.

gunmetal is what it currently is. maybe a bit darker than gunmetal i guess. theres not alot of shine to it. White was just a thought cause i kinda like SOME cars that have their wheels painted to match. Its different. how would they look black?

They are gunmetal in your sig pic? They look almost polished. It looks good in that pic. On a bigger car like yours, I think black would be too much. I'd do the same color in your sig or straight up polished. You know this is just my personal opinion. Later, QD.

correction they are known as Hyper Silver Dark. But yeah they have a gunmetal like appearance. I think thats what i'll most likely go back to. They look fine i guess. I might change my mind later but if i do i can change it later no worries.

why paint when you can get it powder coated? that's what i plan to do with my wheels. i mean one bad turn on the curb & your paint is gone. nothing uglier than chipped paint especially on your wheels. if you really plan to change up your wheels, invest the extra cash in getting it powder coated. with all the research & stuff i've done on powder coated wheels & with advice from some folks here on IA... powder coating lasts hell of a lot longer than paint, it's cheap, & it'll look good as well.

lol it would be pretty hard to curb the part of wheel that wouldve been painted. 3.5" lip in the front, 4.5" lip in the back. but yeah theyre getting powder coated next week, black chrome with the polished lip.
