Whats up guys. I've always loved Hondas and drove an EK for a long time until my ex-wife snatched it my divorce... so when the opportunity came up to get this car I couldn't say no...

Step 1: Acquire EG hatch from a co-worker for CHEAP. The D15 had blown a head gasket and it had some cosmetic issues from being broken into once upon a time

Step 2: Assess the damage

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG5.jpg

Since I picked up the car to be a daily driver I debated on keeping the stock D15B8 and just replacing the headgasket but... thats not my style. I didn't want to drop too much money and go too crazy so I found a good deal on a nice running SOHC ZC motor and Si trans from an IA member so I picked it up... this is barneykidd#1 and my friend Super Dave loading the motor in his truck

Now the old motor has to come out

And after a quick cleaning

Now for the new hardware

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG22.jpg

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG21.jpg

Up, up, and away

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG19.jpg

And down again

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG24.jpg

http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/Umby_photos/EG/EG23.jpg

I got the motor in place and quickly realized that it was time for some routine maintenance... so I replaced EVERY hose, changed all the fluids, the fuel filter, the water neck got cracked at some point in transport so I picked up a new one from Honda, and I went ahead and replaced the VC gasket and painted the VC and heat shield.

And the finished product

I picked up the car on January the 5th and started daily driving it on January the 28th.

Since these pics were taken the car has been treated to a polish and wax and a full interior detail. I had to replace the large bezel around the radio and the A/C controls since the car had its radio stolen. I also put in an Si cluster 'cause I've got to have a tach. I have several more mods in mind and some parts already on the way. I will be taking more pics as progress continues.

The car is running great. I've put about 500 miles on it now and its running great. I'm still getting some smells of oil and coolant that I'm still trying to troubleshoot and it tossed its alternator last night at 1am so thank god the Advance on Jimmy Carter is open 24 hours lol.

Thanx to everyone who answered some of the tech questions I had along the way and MANY thanx to my bro Super Dave who put in all the hours with me.

good start!! next plans??

Mostly detail stuff for now. I still need to trace down the weird smells for one. After that it needs some new carpet. The interior is CLEAN but the carpet is completely worn in some weird place so I'm replacing that as well as some other interior mods.

Past that it still needs tint, probably a duck tail, I plan on dropping it as well.

Thanx for all the other comments :goodjob:

I think the work "BUILD" is starting to get over used! nice job but a motor replacement is not a "BUILD"

good shit brad, i would have done a wire tuck while the motor was out tho..lolNah... Wire tucks are too much of a headache. It will never be a show car, just a fun little ride to get me where I'm going.

I think the work "BUILD" is starting to get over used! nice job but a motor replacement is not a "BUILD"In your opinion maybe... to me a build is anything that goes away from its stock form... and since builds generally take weeks, months, and years I think its a little too early to judge...
