the fitment/stance trend has reached epic fad level,i remember when everyone's sig were jdm this, jdm that. Now everyone has something bout stance/fitment in them.

maybe by 2011 we will have something else hopefully, maybe a trend where people like to do things to make thier cars driver's car not hard parkers.

You can balance the two, plenty of cars with great wheel fitment do more than just park.

Someone made a thread about it. I'm not going to go looking for it. I seen it.

no, but every car comes with an engine, wheels, suspension, and brakes. I'm pretty sure when the car was invented, and when every car is designed, driving is the number one thing their supposed to do. Leave looking good at the expense of function to fashion, cars should always be function first. I don't mind making a vehicle look nice, just not when it cuts into its ability to drive. Racing parts discourage driving comfort, but they still aid in driving itself, slamming a car increases wear on the tires, makes the handling worse, decreases ride comfort, and to some, STILL doesn't ever look good. Not function increasing(or even maintaining) in any way.

Not EVERYONE cares about performance you know? I love road racing, I've tracked my car/autocrossed. But I understand that not everyone is into that. Some people would rather just go for looks. And that's cool too. Why should everybody mod their cars to be wannabe race cars? Variety is the spice of life. If everybody modded their cars the exact same the car scene would be really boring. And if everybody had the same opinion about everything there would be nothing to talk about. You feel me?

I feel you. Something doesn't have to go towards the racing end. I didn't say that. I just don't think something should hinder driving, or the pleasure of driving. Looking good doesn't increase either of those categories, but as long as it doesn't make them worse, it's ok. But when your means of looking good actually hurts them, that's where people are forgetting what a car is and why you buy one. It'd be like having a watch with a really cool plate with designs die cut into it over your watch. IT looks sexy as hell, but when the hands are at 11, 4, or7 they're covered by the plate's solid areas. So you can't tell the difference between 11:20, 11:35, 11:55, 4:20, 4:35, 4:55, 7:20, 7:35, or 7:55 and that'd be rediculous, but with a car it's suddenly ok to hinder the main function. OR make your computer have a built in oven. When the oven is in use, your processor has to slow down to 1gz to prevent from burning up, but damn you have one badass bread cooking computer. If you take it out of the frame of reference of cars, you see how stupid the mentality is, yet people still do it. That being said, I'll go back to where I said it doesn't have to be race or nothing. It can be a stereo to make the drive better, a good looking set of wheels, whatever body panels float your boat. It's the rediculous pointless camber, and tucked wheels that prevent you from driving on publicly designed roads with speed bumps, and steep hills that's going towards the bread cooking computer and metal plate watch.

As for show anything, I think that's a whole 'nother level of people I will never understand. Reminds me of a family friend who used to own a boat, but made the rules "no shoes, no looking over the edge, no fishing, no leaning against the walls, don't use this feature, or cook in the boat's kitchen, blah blah blah no fun etc.". He had a nice ass boat, but it was no fun to be on, because he didn't want it to get messed up. It's like buying a CD, but never playing it, because it never plays as good as it does that first time. What's the point of preserving a function you're not using? So yeah, show cars aren't even cars anymore, they're statues with engines trapped in them.

EDIT: oh yeah internet insurance

They are stupid. Cars are meant to be driven. Nothing wrong with making your car look good, but spending thousands on a car to park it is fucking retarded.

Function>>>>>>>form

OR they are only status symbols with engines in them. People will have their way with their own cars. To me a properly stanced car is as nice as a built or swapped car. They each have their purpose to the owner and they serve it well (hopefully).

If you don't dig the style then don't do it to your car. There are tons of guys that love driving slammed cars. It brings them the same pleasure me or you get when we bomb mountain roads or dodge cones at an autocross. To them camber wear and scraping on everything is a sacrifice they are willing to make to do what truly makes them happy. You are totaled entitled to your opinion, as am I. However, who are we to tell them they are stupid for doing what makes them happy?

I'm not trying to control anybody. I am just saying what I think is true to a car, as it was intended by the car's creator. And the purpose of cars a whole. And I think that is driving. But I am fully aware it's all opinions. So don' take it as me trying to sway anyone, or tell them what is right, or wrong.

Well what is performing if it's not driving?

My point was that a car doesn't have to be a road race car to "perform".
there are drag cars, circle track cars, drift cars, rally cars, hillclimb cars, etc.

Not everything and not everyone is all about road racing. :goodjob:
