Sorry guys, but they're not Works. They're BBSs. A set of prototype wheels produced by BBS for work as the Equip prototype.
As for a piece of crap, it most certainly wasnt. I put over 100k miles on it in its life, the motor had ~400k miles on it, never rebuilt. Schrick cam, dinan software, SSK, intake/exhaust, etc... the car was not a slouch in the least. ;)
I can understand thinking its ugly, and that's more than fair. I respect that. But let's not say its a hunk of shit. That car never let me down. I drove it all the way from here to Cali, up the coast, back down the coast, back to home...
then I turned around and drove it back to Dallas, TX.. then back home. And then to Florida, and back home. All within just a couple of months. It took it like a champ. Most cars wouldn't.

I wasn't referring to BMWs or VWs as in "for a while." I was referring to old hot rods (rat rods and shit) doing this for a long time.
So it was ONLY influential in that the owner of the car started that site? How is that influential at all? And to who? I would say some cars may have been influenced, but I think that would be too much.

Then finished with the p51 paint scheme. I know I've missed several wheel changes in there. Mike should put a poster together with all the phases...or a calender lol!

Some of them did, especially the ones that were recycled and retro-fitted with rockets in the korean war... But warhawks patented that shit and made it look good ;)

Man makes me wish I was the genius to be the first person to make the car look lie utter shit and get a huge following with virtually zero money invested. Then I would have sold that bitch.
Some paint stripping chemicals, a hammer, some zip ties, some spray paint, or hell, house paint, get a shitload of "admirers" and sell it for $14,000 then laugh my ass off that everyone thought it was tight as hell. Won't work now, it's not new anymore, but man, to be the first to ruin a modern European car was smart.
That being said the people who did fall into liking it for w/e reason, I don't understand. The car looked absolutely awful. The sleeperness makes me want to love it, but the way it makes the guy in the driver's seat look cheap and non-prioritized (ballin ass rims on a totalled car) just ruin the appeal. To me it looks like the king of all lazy and cheap shortcuts all performed on one car, which belittles the owner, even if it's not true.

you do realize that the car was totaled before he rusted the whole thing out right? it wasn't mike just waking up one morning and saying "well fuck my beautiful e28, i'm going to take off the perfect paint and just rust the whole bitch"
Now the fun part about this car, at least to me, was watching the bimmerforums.com group go from loving it, to hating it being all black and slammed, to then hating mike even more for the rusted hood, to it getting totaled and mike rusting the whole thing out to seemingly only piss off the haters on bf.c some more. I'm sure that wasn't the full reason behind it, but thats at least a reason that someone watching the whole thing go down on bf.c could take it.

sucks to see a car that has really made a car style like it has go out like that. I have tons of respect for him. Not often a car built for so little money gets such a big following like "rusty" did. R.I.P. piece of shit...
Can't wait to see what he has next.

350. Oh fuck that has to be the entire auto customizing population. Don't toot your own horn unless you have more than a Barbie Vette horn.
BTW, calm down, son. I'm not one of the people trashing your car. I'm just pointing out small details. Later, QD.

I know. I'm just saying it was genius to further take the car to a whole 'nother level of ruined. The credit should be given to the haters as much as the artist because that's what inspired it. I preferred it's original look the most but after it was totaled it's "no holds barred" and more and more people either hated it or loved it with each modification. Then the snowball effect kicked in and it blew up like Anna Nicole Smith.

I loved that car. Every single inch of it. It beats, Hands down, ANY crap Civic on this site. Even rusty and falling apart, it had more character then 99% of the cars on this site as well.
I'd crush 40 of the Civics that people own here to own a car as cool as that Bimmer.
Sad part is, all the Civics I would crush would look identical. All have Rota's or fat 5's and together would amount to more gayness per square inch than the whole of San Francisco put together.
Sad to see it go.

If it rolls, runs and drives. It had function. May not be YOUR kind of function but its functional.
Touche! For some reason I was thinking one of the mustangs had the teeth...of course it's the warhawk! fail! I blame that on the fever lol!
The teeth trend was started by the Flying Tigers in China right before the official start of WW2, if i remember correctly. They did mostly fly Warhawks. It was a squadron thing though - not an aircraft specific. :goodjob:

Exactly. I agree 100%. I am SO not into the Honda scene but every now and again I see one that makes me go WoW. Not on this site so much, but other places.
I hate this term, but that Bimmer had Swagger. Love it or Hate it, you ALWAYS looked at it no matter where it showed up. That was the name of the game. No matter how much you hated it, you KNEW it. It had magazine features, spawned a website and much much more.
When a Civic spawns a website named Rotawerks.com, I MIGHT take your average Varsity Honda seriously. Until then, they do nothing for me.

If it ain't FWD, ain't sporting a Honda badge with springs, Rota's and a lip.......it just isn't Import Atlanta man.
The funny thing about this entire thread is that if you lined up all the posters in this thread, looked at their cars and did a comparison. That Rusty piece of shit, no style having, non-functional, fanboy, hard-parking shit pile...(Did I miss any names?) has been more dependable, reliable, trend setting and just plain easier to own than most of em.
And i'll pretty much gaurantee that it's more known than all of em put together.
All for a budget of pretty much nothing on a totalled out car. Hat's off to the owner. The rest of you can only hope to acheive what he has with nothing. Laugh all you want, you are already owned. :screwy:

You don't have Fat 5's or Rotas. You sir, might just be bucking the system. The other Civic Owners might just gang up and chase you with pitchforks!

How did he get it to rust like that? Usualy rust starts from the wheelwells but it looks like he stripped the paint from it.
So Stanceworks means stretched tires and slammed???
His car is more like a quasi-modern rat rod (rust, zip ties and low)
Nothing new here we were doing that in highschool. I even remember a guy who had NO (NO as in none, zero) springs on his accord.

His car, full suspension. Coilover set-up if memory serves me correctly. It also made several VERY long road trips. Nothing whatsoever like a Honda with no springs on it.
That's why everyone that clowns on that car is a dumbass. They have no idea just how functional and reliable that car actually was.

That car is a classic.
No it wasn't anything special. It had a lot of "free" mods (nature).
Just shows you that a LOT of you fuckers are trying way too hard. That car has been posted on forums not related to automotive. It definitely is 1 of the more popular cars - and not just for the Stance guys/gals - for automotive culture as a whole.
Some like it - some don't. Some get it - some don't. Just keep it moving. I won't say "it will be missed" and request a missing man formation and shit - but I will say that I'd always gave that car a 2nd look when I shared a parking lot with it and/or it came across my computer screen.
Us old school guys have always had you newer guys trumped anyway --- I've gotten more looks and comments in this:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u59/MUSIC_MAESTRO/1G/DSCF0198.jpg
than a lot of you get w/ paint - crazy suspension/interior mods. There is nothing intricate about that BMW that made it where only a few select cults would "get it" (like a jdm rear view mirror vs a us 1 ---- who gives a fuck?). The car was so simple that EVERY1 can "get it". It's def an icon - and by parting it out it still lives on.
