i have my eyes on this supra in japan, the price is GREAT, even with the cost of shipping, its styll a deal. im jus worried about registering it over here, ive heard theyre real strict on what they let in, and unless its 25 yrs old and considered an antique then im s.o.l :( but thats jus from word of mouth though, any ideas ppl?

It makes no sense to import a car that you can already get here. Just buy a Supra in the States and spend the extra money that it would cost to import one on fixing it up.
Don't say you can't find one - I have one sitting in my driveway for sale, and another sitting about 10 miles from here for sale. Both are much faster than stock.

yh i know yu can find them here, but those on tcv are dirt cheap though. like yu can get a modded one pushing 500+ for under $10,000, yu'd have to pay 3 times as much over here for a gud one

The one in my driveway is a 93 and has a T-78, AEM, etc. It can easily do over 500rwhp. And it is no where near $30K. He is asking $18K and probably will take less. It just sits, and never gets driven.

Also, have you ever imported a car before? It is not as simple as it appears. It is much easier to export than to import a car.

Its not going to be 10,000 to get a RHD Supra here.

Trust me. I know people with imported cars, expensive ones.

Its a long, expensive process to get the car to your house and there's alot of money on the line if you screw up.

It would probably be more expensive to import one after all the fees anyway. You think these JDM 12 digit vin cars come with a title? LOL, think again. That's another fun process too.

My advice, buy a Supra here. Save yourself the money and pain and stress of importing a JDM car.

you really need to jump on the supraforums to see how much it really how it cost to get one over here. There are some RHD owners on there. Also, i don't think your thinking it all the way through. If you get one over here, how are you going to get parts for it when something breaks? At least with a USDM, you can scavenge the US locating parts you need and get new parts from the dealer. I'm sure alot of parts carry over but why put yourself through a potential headache.

convert steering wheel to right side, much cheaper then importing a jdm car

10K supra(that u have know idea what u are getting cause u can't test drive it) + 5-7K for shipping... So you'll have a 15-17K supra probably more, and u can't drive it cause u won't be able to get tags or insurance(which will cost u even more to get registered).... I would find one over here IMO:2cents:......

:lmao: at this moron! Also to people thinking it only cost $5-7k to have it imported. Your looking at $10k for the car plus tax. Then having to find a company to get it over here, that alone will cost the $5-7k for a VERY cheap transportation. Then probably another grand to get it through customs. Which will take anywhere from 3-6 months. Then your going to spend another 1-2 months and a grand or so just trying to get it titled and insured. Which again you have no idea the insurance cost. Insurance is going to charge a bit more because thats not something that can be easy replaced, and they will have to shell out a totaled cost of the vehicle if it gets wrecked. Then again like someone said you have no idea of what condition the car is really in. So your going to spend by the time everything is said and done roughly $25000 and 6-8 months for something you have no idea is in what condition.

And you get insurance BEFORE you get the car registered b/c the dmv will ask you for proof of insurance when getting registered, so yea you can get it insured.

Definitely not worth the trouble just to sit on the wrong side of the car. It's not an r34, Supras are readily available here and making 500 HP is relatively easy.

fine someone that imports cars on a regular basis. We picked up a RHD TT Supra last Aug in LA, only paid 11000 for it already here. It had a few dings and dents but very well worht it. Not registered though but it can be done with the right person.
