Ok IA, a friend of mines wants to do a budget build on his accord.

He only wants to run about 8-9 psi so he wont have to upgrade his internals until he gets done with college. So anybody have knowledge of parts needed, or have done it before.

He drives a 4 door 1995 Honda accord with a 1996 ex motor

any help is appreciated and reppped

Links, personal experience, etc is accepted:cheers:

its just like building any other turbo. rebuild the motor so it doesn't think about blowing something when you boost it. running 7-9 psi shouldnt be a problem on stock internals but dont forget to get the car tuned.

heres mainly what you'll need-
1. rebuild kit (come with replace gaskets/rings/rod/piston)
2. turbo manifold (since its not a sports car you may need a custom made turbo manifold)

stock internal rebuild shouldn't run too much, ex: b18b1 rebuild kit is 300-400 $$

oh yeah, this build on 8-9 psi shouldn't run him more than 2k

rebuild kit = 400 max
getting it machined is about 200-300 $$
turbo manifold = not sure, around 500??
turbo kit = 400-500 go with ebay turbo kit, they not bad with low boost, other kit if you dont like ebay.

i have not build a turbo project yet but just giving you something to start with using my knowledge. my b18b1 turbo build will be done within next few months

Things i think i need:

Turbo manifold
T3/t4 turbo
Oil feed and return lines
Manual Boost Controller
Intake piping with BOV
FMIC or SMIC
Downpipe for turbo
low boost so he wont need a new ecu or safc

wat else????

thats your idea of a budget build lol wow
Nice prices still kool guy though

He is trying to spend under a grand, even if its $999 he made a bet that he can do it for 1000 or less

whatever you do dont cheap out on the tune, and the ecu u can get a chipped p28 for like 150

do you guys have experience boosting cars or is this your first time???

i bought mine for 500 shipped and upgraded to turbonetics manifold ... cost me around 800 bones... and if the motor is under 130,000 miles on low boost you shouldnt need a rebuild unless motor has fucked up compression to begin with!!!! but if motor is REALLY high miles do rebuild before you apply boost and he should be safe up to 10 psi with a great tune ...

Definately will need something as the stock ecu is not calibrated for boost.

same thing, the only difference is the head thus the exhaust mani is different, the a1 is better tell you the truth, you would maybe need some bigger injectors, i think some people go with legend injectors or dsm injectors??? look on cb7tuners.com or even ht, or honda society, there is a bunch of info on this type of build out there, my friend had that same engine boosted with stock internals in his 97 accord ex for a while, no problems, we even took out the engine and sold it afterwards, it still ran fine,

don't even think about turboing if you are going to cheap out on the engine management or tuning. you will certainly blow it up.

chipped ecu are less than $200. if you have a p28 it's less than $100.

i already told him that, hopefully he get the point that he cant do it with out a tunable ecu

F series engines are very strong. can easily hold 6-8psi, if motors in good condition to start with.you can get an 'ebay' turbo kit for a starting kit for that price..
But if you buy cheap stuff its gonna cost more later when you want it bigger and better..I learned my lesson.my 1st kit i built was 1500$,not including custom DP,waste gate tube, etc.
Im just now going back and re-building a new kit..engine management alone this time was 1500$ EMS.

Im boosting my f22b2 with 205,xxx miles on i
It doesnt smoke at all. If the compression check is fine then i should be ok to boost it on low boost. correct?
