as a true honda fan, i can say that in my opinion, NOTHING beats the durability and reliability of a honda. Ive owned 2 and can say that it is a great car and i LOVE THEM!

unfortunately..my new car..Mazda 6 has a 3.0 duratec ford motor. Now ive heard and experienced nothing but problems with fords. My mom has a 2001 ford windstar and it CONSTANTLY gives her problems even though she has like 130k miles...

My mazda currently Stands @ 92K miles...I jus got it and this morning as im drivin to work, i hear a ticking sound @ low rpms as a engage the throttle....W/E!

so my question is, what kind of problems can i expect as i cross over to 100K miles? Are Ford motors any good? what are their weaknesses?

i really want this motor to last me atleast 150K miles...

p.s. HONDA RULES!

Well my Mazda MX6 GT with replaced Ford Motor (from Probe GT) from previous owner has around 90k miles on it now. Other than having to change a fuel filter and starter, it still runs perfect.... and im not nice to it either =/

and my moms '04 V8 Ford Explorer is over the 160k miles mark and has never been to the shop other than oil and tire changes.

honda and toyotas are great. I have have high mileage hondas and the reliaibility is just awesome. High mileage domestics seem to have a hard time getting up there.
Here is a motivator to get one soon -

Look at the guy for Jan 6 in the high mileage club. Mug has a Acura Legend six Speed with 400k. Click on his youtube video, pretty amazing shape it was in.

Now the highest mileage i've had the honor to see in person was 560,000 mile 86 Civic Si. Mint interior and mint motor. Original owner. Now this guy was so careful he covered his car everyday from the sun (with a car cover all around). I wouldn't have believed it if i didn't see it for myself. He had the original motor rebuilt around 550k and the inside was just unreal. The best part - at a mountain pit stop parked next to a Ferrari, people gathered around his civic and admired it's longevity and preserved "newness" with 500+K on the clock. Priceless moment for him i bet... to bad he retired recently.

He'll be back, they always come back! :ninja:

ive had a 88 prelude Si 4ws, a 96 civic couple with a b16 and a MINT 4 door EG with fresh paint/suspension/wheels.

i sold all my honda's and i wont be going back to one unless its for what they were meant to be....great, reliable, affordable commuter cars that get amazing MPG.
