View Full Version : Any of you guys went sky diving before?
My birthday is coming up, and i definitely want to go skydiving. Been searching around a bit and found few places near Atlanta that does it.
The question is, for your dive, what did you do?
-Tandem Sky dive
Or
-AFF. ( Accelerated Free Fall)
I want to have as much fun as i can. I was thinking about doing AFF, so you won't have to be strapped in front of a instructor while your in the air...:gay:
What do you guys recommend for a first timer??

You might not have that choice as a new dude to this. Later, QD.

Only plan on jumping once? Tandem. Once you jump you really won't notice the trainer until you pull the chute. Then you get to enjoy the scenery as they land.
AFF will take a lot more classroom time 5-7 hours (if I remember right), but if you think you will make more than one jump in your life it's the way I would go.

Oh man that sucks... lol
First pic is Tandem. lol
Second pic is AFF

You have a choice. AFF will take longer and cost more though.

Is there an option just to jump WITH NO chute?

oh yeah forgot to add the choice of static line. You can jump by your self on this i think, but the chute opens as soon as you jump out the plane...What's the fun in that though.

If your name is Travis Pastrana, yes.

:lmfao:
This stunt would be impossible barefoot, therefore he had to cheat.
In all fairness though, he did drink a Red Bull before he jumped out of the plain, true story.
-OP, I wold do a tandem for the first jump. As others stated less expensive, less classroom time, you get to enjoy the view. :goodjob:

I've been before. I personally think that tandem is the way to go for your first time. If you do aff, then you'll have to keep focused on what you are supposed to do next instead of just enjoying the experience.
If you do go, I recommend Skydive the Farm in Rockmart. My mom and sister have been jumping out there for quite awhile. (My mom is over 110 jumps) The other place out there is kind of sketchy.
Its 1hr.45min from my place. I'm thinking of going to the one in atlanta.

I went for the first time this past summer. Went to Atlanta Skydiving Center in Cedartown. When my group first arrived we thought the operation was disorganized and while we were waiting we heard that most of the instructors live on site and they had obviously had a party the night before (a few 30 pack boxes of beer in the fire pit outside). Once it was our turn they were great and we clearly saw that they knew what they were doing.
I would suggest tandem for the first time, you dont even notice anyone is strapped to you until the chute opens and he/she does all the work to get you to a smooth landing. While we were there I watched a guy go AFF for the first time after having already done several tandems and his landing was rough and resulted in a broken finger.

Sorry but, that is wrong. You pretty much sign your life away when you go skydiving. Even if the instructor messes up, the organization has spent PLENTY of money making sure their lawyers have covered any possible lawsuit with the 10's of signatures and initials you give them on paper before you go.

Lol, one of my best friends use to skydive and had alot of jumps in and even base jumped once or twice. He said that pretty much all skydive instructors were like hippies. Party every and all night, jump out of airplanes all day.
