aftermarket spring + stock shock = good or bad?

im not sure, i read around and some say it will blow the shock out after a few thousand miles, and if i go with aftermarket gas shocks it would be better?

you'll be fine with the stock, but it'd ride better with aftermarket.

It really depends on how far you drop it, and the condition of the shocks.

stock shocks are not made to ride any other way than stock height. if you lower your car and keep stock shocks they will blow much quicker than they would if you had not messed with them.

agreed, i had this problem 3 years ago after taking off the coilovers, shocks were shot. but a CTR suspension solved the problem. that and it was too damn bouncy of a ride, go fast and hit a dip in the road and hold on, i'd go aftermarket setup all the way, unless it's a very small drop.

What everyone else said. Although I have to say don't underestimate stock struts, lolol. I've ridden for multiple months in multiple cars with no springs at all and never blown a strut.

The only way to run stock is have TEIN springs. Depending on how lower you want to go even the S.Tech springs have 1.9 F/1.7 Rear.

Tein springs are meant to use on stock struts and shocks. they have a slightly different spring rate than stock but damn near close. Give them a call

If you're running stock struts, you're going to want a much higher spring rate to keep the struts from bottoming out. You'll blow the shit out of them with a spring rate that's near the same as factory springs.

i think it just depends on ur luck somewhat, but to the point; i've ridden on eibach springs on my stock struts forever on my HONDA, My nissan, eibach springs on my stock 240 struts only lasted like 2 weeks before they blew, so depends which type of vehicle too..

depends on the spring stiffness/rate i guess, as someone said tein makes a set for stock shocks so it depends on the application and who makes it. those bouncy ass coilovers have to ruin a shock with all the bouncing and how far they travel. if they bottom out alot they will blow quicker. I have CTR springs and shocks, it's abt 1.25" drop but it's perfect for me because if i ever put another front air dam on i won't lose it on a bump!!

Ok...... I ran about 8 months on Eibachs with stock struts till they blew out. My advice is to just buy you so aftermarket struts like :goodjob: KYB AGX:goodjob: . Best bang for buck to me trust me you will thank yourself later on. Good luck:cheers:

i already went about 6,000 miles on some aftermarket NeuSpeed shocks and stock struts and still my ride does not bounce at all but i am going to upgrade them when i can

im so lost -______- well i got tein s tech, im not sure if i wanna drop it on oem shocks or kyb agx, differences so far... limited lifetime warranty if they go out > having to replace oem

ive always ridden on stock shocks with no problem... i did have kyb gr2's once and its clearly a better ride

tein s techs are usually have softer spring rates than stock spring rates, so if you use them on your stock struts you will have a very bouncy ride, which equates to not handling so good...

Do things right the first time and you will never have to worry about it again. Save $$$ and get full coilovers, it's the only way to go.
