Jimmy was planning to scrap the roof skin b/c of the sunroof and using the skin off an LS donor car that didn't have a sunroof long before the cage was part of the plan (at least, to my knowledge). Since Day 1, weight reduction was a large priority in this project, hence some of the other things that were initially done to the car. Without the roof skin, the welding super easy from what Kyle is telling me, hahaha.

Look a little farther back and you will see that I am replacing the sunroof equipped roof with a roof from a donor RS. Saving me around 38 lbs out of the top of the car. I figured it would be easier to do the cage with it off and so I will install the new roof skin after we get done. I need every lb of weight loss I can get since I am going from a D series to an H with a S37X turbo:D It does make it easier to do for sure plus I will be able to paint the cage a lot better.

haha but it is so much easier to weld on the top of the main hoop..... no more trying to figure out where to put the pedal for the tig welder....

Easier to put it in now than later. Pulled the fuel pressure regulator off the Hot Rod when I got home so we can get the fuel system all plumbed up shortly.

I am happy with the forward progress that we are making with the Teg. Still have to finish the fuel system, get the dash in, etc, but shouldnt be too bad! Hope to debut it at IFO Commerce. If not she will be at Import Showdown.

Vtecace23 suggested it so I went with it and as soon as I opened the can to mix it we were all thinking it was going to be an awesome color. Looks great in the sunlight. The man has some talent with a spray gun!

Proven power! 10.58 first pass off the trailer on wastegate and brand new slicks....couple heat cycles and turning it up will yield 9 second passes in a street legal car!

What about the idea of going to straight cut 1-2 gears (yes they are noisy and more of a race setup) but I would think that it would still be much more streetable than an all out dogbox. I would assume PPG makes something that would solve the problem of the second gear grenade :goodjob:

I am using stuff that I have sitting around as funds are limited. I will probably be looking at the MFactory unit before too long. I dont care about gear whine, it sounds pretty cool to me, lol!

try out the 1400 dollar m factory gear set instead of the full dog box thats what im looking into getting in the mid summer.
