good method, but since you are taking something out from under the hood, couldnt you just pop out one of the relays and get the same effect?

Black4DrEK
01-21-2010, 11:12 PM

most thiefs will leave if the car does not start on the intial attempt, a hidden fuel pump kill switch is much easier and if u place it right no one will ever notice you flipping it or even find it.

urs is good but what if the thief sees what ur doing???

I like the ingenuity, but wouldn't a good alarm do the same?

Exactly. It is a cool idea, but it's a lot of work to do when other, simpler methods work just as well. And yo have to do this every time you go somewhere will just get tiring. Later, QD.

X2^ its not a bad idea, but it would be a hassle... But it looks cheap and pretty easy way to keep your car safe... So good idea:goodjob:

ony if you do a good, stealthy install. otherwise its just as good as nothing

Great idea man, kill switch is more logical and way easier!!

Well why would the install matter? If they cut wires to an alarm, they'd have to re-attach them properly, i.e. takes time they don't have. As sophisticated as even cheap alarms are now, it just would be more convenient than a bulky pig tail sticking out of the back of your jeans IMO.

As someone mentioned, a simple fuel cut-off switch could do the same too and you wouldn't have to carry anything around with you.

Good idea!!

GPS tracking is another if you want to get it off your mind, now days
the tracking system will send you a TX. when your car is moved!!

good idea but what if someone is 1 step ahead of you and have already made these pigtail's for the honda/acura and just plug there's in and boom - cranks your car and drives away! I had a kill switch nicely hidden on one of my integra's and it was nice.. Just have to find a crazy place to put it!!!! But, hey def. get props for trying to keep whats yours.. ++2

What are the chances they would be using the exact pigtail jumper that you used. To the OP, it is a very good idea but a lot of people would grow tired of popping the hood to unplug it every time and would eventually say screw it. A hidden kill switch is nice, but if you are a pro thief the first thing you think of is a kill switch when the car wont start, and there are only so many places you can hide a switch and still get to it yourself. IMO the best way to go is GPS tracking and a good Alarm system with a fail safe that will shut the car down if the car or alarm is tampered with.

OldSchool87
01-22-2010, 04:49 PM
Well this would have been a good idea if you would have kept it to yourself. because now any person(s) who might be on this forum who is a thief will know how to steal your integra if they see it parked somewhere. word of advice, the best anti-theft system is one that you don't go tell everyone about.

X2^ its not a bad idea, but it would be a hassle... But it looks cheap and pretty easy way to keep your car safe... So good idea:goodjob:Welcome to 2004 when thieves began using roll backs and fake repo documents.

For years I always unplugged my distributor but left it looking like it was plugged in...even if a thief was dumb enough to take the time to look under the hood. Pulling a fuse helps too but everyone has caught on to that too. If the car cranks and doesn't start it's either a fuse, a relay, a kill switch, or something is disconnected. It takes time to diagnose what it could be if a car doesn't start.

There's only two things you need though. A good alarm that alerts the owner and a GPS locator installed in the car. $10-20 p/ month for the service and you'll always be able to track the car. I'd rather have the car taken and them caught then just a broken window or jacked up locks every time.

soo...you just put a kill switch under your hood?
just take off the wire from your coil to your distributor.

"Easy anti-theft "

i like the title.
but it not easy at all, you have to pop your hood everytime and undo the clip.

would it be better just to make a switch and hide it some where?

Haha, this reminds of my anti-theft on my old car. Years ago I used to work at a place with a pretty large, secluded parking lot (easy pickings for a car thief). When I knew I had to work late I'd just pop off the wire from my ignition coil to my distributor cap (car was a 68 Mustang) and just put it in my pocket.

Thanks for the memories.

Wouldn't this fail horribly if someone was trying to steal your car when your unlocking it?

Just saying... I would have made a cut off inside the car.
