Was suspended on janurary 15, 2010 for a no proof of insurance ticket i got in april of 2006:???:...Heres the story

In april of 2006 I had bought a 98 4 door honda civic lx with a blown motor,So I changed the title to my name, swapped the motor did a few other things and got it back running and on the road.Well i called and put insurance on the vehicle in which i prepaid 6 months in advance with a check over the phone (Which they had to wait till it cleared) so I took the car to get the emissions and tag office to get a tag, they told me there was no insurance in the system for the vehicle. So I called my isurance company and they said they were just waiting for it to clear so i left and decided to come tomorrow since they said it would take up to 24 hours.
On the way home i got pulled over,It was 33 days after i got the title transfered to my name and you know you only have 30 days to get everything right on your car after you buy it so i got a ticket for no proof of insurance. So I moved for two months to mississippi at my friends house came back to georgia and found out my license was suspended for failure to appear (I missed my court date, thought it was later) So i went and paid my tickets and went and paid to reinstate my license and all was well, now 4 years later Its suspended for the actual no proof of insurance...wtf...and its suspended for 60 days now i have to wait till march 17 and pay $60 to reinstate it...is this right at all???

idk either it doesnt make any sense to me how they can suspend it twice once in 2006 for the failure to appear and now in 2010 for the actual no proof of insurance ticket:thinking:

well they suspended your license in 06 because you didn't appear in court. now they are suspending your license cause you were late to pay the ticket or didn't pay the ticket.

Technically they can legally do that since its not for the same charge. But yeah just be glad its only for 60 days

Yeah ticket was paid for 4 years ago wtf if the ticket was paid for how can they suspend my license???:???: 4 years later at that?

cause you were late to pay it, you said you missed your court date(1) that means you were also late to pay the ticket (2) so i'm guessing that's why they suspended it twice?

Mine got suspended in this manner. But not for a failure to appear. I purchased a car from GA, registered it in Ohio. It broke in 08. I got it repaired, finally got work after 3months of searching, the night before payday 11:50 PM I got stopped. 1:30 AM I got paid and added insurance to my car after a 3week lapse.

Currently I have no license due to all that. They make u out like a bad person for not being able to find work and when u actually find it, dont understand how real life works. Just money :(

I would go to the court house in person and ask to speak with someone about it. Show proof of having paid it back in 06. Be courteous and professional and a lot of things can go your way. Good luck...

its not right with what they did but you cant win you just have to wait till march 17, i feel ya cause mine is suspended right now and get it back march 23:goodjob: im 19 and you have to have 4 points on your license to get it suspended and i ran a stop sign and went to court and told me that im getting it suspended for 6 months and i told them why if i didnt have any points on my driving record and they told me that this should teach me a lesson.

something similar happened to me...not the insurance part, but the non paying tix part. i didnt pay a tix i got when i was 16 in boston and then just moved. as soon as i got my first credit card, around 18, they tracked me down....first i got a letter in the mail stating that I've lost all privileges in operating a motor vehicle within the commonwealth of Massachusetts, follow by a letter threatening to report it to creditors, and finally a warrant for my arrest....this was the straw that broke the camels back....long story short...i paid it, lol

the moral of the story: take care of your shit before it becomes bigger shit

Yes, this is correct. What happened is this. When you were late for your court date, you were immediately found guilty of the charge. You paid the fine and all, BUT, what you paid (I believe) was just the court fees. The suspension of your license comes as a result of your guilty plea. The guilty plea coming from your failure to appear. It is a mandatory 60 day (1st offense) license suspension for this offense. Later, QD.

the system works in crazy ways. it could of been "lost" and they found it and decided to get you. just like when you pay a bill and the bank waits till the last second to show it up on your account and you go into negative.
