i had some light scratches on my trunk so i found some scratch removing stuff at the house, i do not remember the name. i whiped it on with a sponge and then cleaned it up with a cotton towel. now the bad part... the area i applied the stuff looks like a foggy white like i ruined the clear coat. can anyone help me try and get this stuff off? it looks terrible. thanks for the help.

mm sounds like you might have to buff it. whatever you used should have directions tho

gasoline always works to take stuff off but it might be too strong n go through your clear coat. if you didnt wipe it all off try water to get it off and a rag. its really up to you how far u want to go. u could maybe use nail polish remover:thinking:

water & rag wont work... been trying that. the cars brand new so i dont wanna go extreme and kill the paint. what will be worse... acetone or gas as far as clear coat goes?

rubbing alcohol might get it off

Get a good microfiber cloth and buff it off.

Are you sure the stuff you used was for paint...And clear coat?

Also, in the future, don't apply with a sponge. Always good quality, clean, microfiber or terry cloth.

did you put rubbing compound on it? if so see if its a light ,medium, hard grit. most likely get a high power buffer and buff it out.

i found the bottle finally it's made by Blue Magic and it's called Rub-Out. bottle claims to easily remove light scratches, haze, swirl marks, and is clear coat safe. it's like a white semi thick liquid. i'll try the rubbing alcohol in the morning when it's not so dark out. yeah i applied with the sponge and then rubbed off with a terry cloth.
