Yes, I got the idiot ticket.....
Gwinnett County.
I was on my way home from a party last weekend and a buddy of mine (G35) left the same time I did and we take the same road home (Duluth Highway 120). The time was 1:53am and we gave each other the look and ran from 30. We were neck and neck and I started to fall behind late 3rd gear, just in time for the 2 cops around the corner to hear us and come after us. We both went to jail for the night and got bailed out around 10am.
All I'm concerned about is, what's gonna happen to my license? I only have 2 minor speeding tickets (one 15 over, one 14 over). I heard from another member that I should be fine since I'm over 21 and will only have to pay a big fine, and maybe probation. I'm asking you guys because I'm sure plenty of you have been through this before.. *cough* killsforum *cough*
-I've never done this before, this was my first time trying to race somebody. I blame Zen Motors for selling me a great boost controller! (just kidding)
-I learned my lesson, and spent 8 hours thinking about it
-I've already got the "you're a dumbass" speech from my mom and other close friends.
but wait... before you post

Lawyer up if you want to have a chance at keeping your license with two priors... I don't care how "minor" you think they were. Judge does not 15 over as "minor".

I think those people have to be transfered back to their county. I remember hearing someone saying they still had to go to another holding cell after this one. (just a guess)

your gonna get a crazy fine...at the least.. You honestly should have stayed n jail until you got a signature bond or saw the judge, and maybe you would have gotten a time served..MAYBE. the only person taht can save you is a lawyer.. but your gonna get it in the ass..unless the cop doesnt show..

there is somethings that could change all this right here.
1st did they see u guy's racing are just heard you?
2nd did they clock u going 80+ are just told u they did?
3rd if you havent got a lawyer your 1 dumbass
Most times whn cops charge u for racig they gonna charge with another ticket for speeding also, the fact they he just noted you where going over 80 makes me think he didnt't clock you going that fast other wise he would of wrote u a ticket, besides the 1 u got for it.I no the law is on the cops side but hearing you race and see it,could change everything. And trust me its sad to say i been through alot of this before i was 21, 7-8 before 21.And i have never loss my license ever, the most i have ever done was 6 months probation and ddc.I can't say the same for the 4 tickets i am waiting to go to court on right now thoe. But i did lawyer up the next morn as soon as i got out of jail and i have 5-6 other lawyers that have looked at my case and want it so it gives me a little hope:(

two buddies of mine were racing and they had community service, a hefty ass fine, and a ton of points. Get a lawyer to help keep your license, that would be my biggest concern. You can always make the money back.....

if you didn't already know this:
you have a right to know your arresting officer's name.
you have a right to know his work schedule
and you also have a right to reschedule your court date.
meaning you can reschedule it for a day when your arresting officer is off of work and he will have to come on his day off which decreases the chances of him showing up. idk how likely that is to deter him but it still may help your chances a little.
and what Stay Up said.

No, they mostly heard us and seen the end of it as we started to approach a slight turn after slowing down (where they were already stocked up 3 cars arresting DUI driver). I highly doubt they radar'd us. I didn't see that on the ticket either

Lol, thats kinda funny, but wouldn't it be weird to ask for an officer's schedule? What kind of excuse could I make up for asking that kind of information?

This is why im retired from skreet skracing.
Get a judge asap. We can't tell you anything, because no one will know what will happen to you. The judge can drop the ticket or the judge can give you a big ass fine and revoke your license. Who knows.
Take driving classes, and talk to a lawyer.

if they didn't radar you that could make a huuuuuge difference. and why need an excuse. it's not like you're doing anything shady. knowing his schedule is perfectly within your legal rights.

I would bet most of us, if not all of us has at one time or another in our life raced a car. Maybe it was light to light, or maybe it was just going from a 40mph to 60mph before you let off. Some of us get caught, most don't. Just because he got caught doesn't mean he's dumb, it just means he was unlucky. I am not condoning street racing but there is no way in hell all you ppl are saints and never break the law. Ppl around here need to stop acting like their gods gift to the earth and perfect. We all make mistakes, every one of us. It might not have to do with operating a motor vehicle, but you do.

if you get a lawyer you will get off with a day or two in jail (hopefully credit served) and a fine....
the lawyer will suspend or continue the case until your about payed up.... just what they do.... next plea to the judge you wanna join the military.... and he will give you a speeding ticket with a guilty plea......and let you go to uncle sam......
just a viable option you have

Lol, thanks for the support I guess. It's funny, after I posted this thread I looked at the "What's your worst ticket" thread.. and DAMN. My racing incident is nowhere near as bad as half of that room! I remember one guy doing 135 in a 55. I never hit above 95 in my life. I never wanted a ticket, or get arrested for going triple digits so I never tried it. And like I said earlier, this was just a spur of the moment thing. I never planned it, and I'm not a street racer at all. Sure, I get on it once in a while, but usually getting on the highway or a back road somewhere.

This
I've had street racing before at ,2 am it's dangerous that's prime cop time hunting for DUI and such
get a lawyer or you will lose your license 21 or not. Street racing is automatic 6 month suspension you need a lawyer to plead it down to excessive speeding or too fast for conditions or something.
Your best bet is to say you don't know the g35 owner you were just both speeding next to each other

Btw my bail was $2500
I got a lawyer $500, and I ended up with a $700 fine no points, excessive speeding ticket
without a lawyer I was facing 6-12month suspension , $2500 fine , 10-12 points , jail time etc
