5.8 isn't a bad earthquake at all. If you read the article, you would know there was minimal damage. The apocalypse isn't here, just every small vibration that tips the Richter scale will be reported as BREAKING OMFG DEVASTATION NEWS!!!! for the next 2 months.

Yes. There are about 1000 2.0-2.9 earthquakes every day (Wikipedia).

For those that are worried, I just did a little research because I'm a nerd like that and like to learn all about natural disasters (not just earthquakes and tsunamis, but tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, etc.) and found out that we really don't have much to worry about. The Enriquillo-Plantain Garden Fault System runs thru Cuba, Guat., Haiti, etc. and geologists say that even with the 7.0 magnitude earthquake running all the way across the fault line, it is highly unlikely that Florida would feel any impact.

That's what I'm saying dummy... If the earthquake occured that far south and Florida didn't feel it, it's highly unlikely that Georgia would feel it. I also meant that we aren't on or near that fault line. Silly.

It's obviously caused by global warming and/or the end of the Mayan calendar.

*Sarcasm* Or we could always blame it on Bush, I'm sure it's his fault somehow. (No pun intended.)

Georgia has it's own earthquakes, smaller, but they occur quite often.

It's Obama's fault. He personally appointed the Natural Disasters Czar.

This stuff isn't rare or uncommon if you know about this type of stuff. It's just being blown up now after Haiti which yes did suck. It's not the end of the world and anyone who thinks the world actually does end in 2012...die now.
