does anyone know what stone the machine shop needs to use to do the h22a4 honning?

Not sure, but if I remember correctly the H22 uses Honda's famous FRM sleeves which are harder than most of the honing stones.

They use a different set of hones for them. I've asked them if there was a difference at where I get my machine work done.

arent the h22's cylinder walls very weak?

They are thin but actually pretty strong. By nature of their design though, they arent as easy to work with as the standard steel-lined cylinder.

I dont know anything about the specifics of the honing stones though, just that they are graphite and usually three different grades of the stone are used.

if the machine shop does not know what stone to use, then shop does no know anything about machining this motor. you can not hone it like a regular iron lined b series. your best bet is to get the whole block resleeve if you intend to build the motor up for speed.

PM AccordPride... He loves working on H22 and can do the honing also for a good price. I'd recommend him to anyone.

i wouldnt. the last 2 h motors i built required no honing. slap new rings and go. if there is deep damage find another block. or if your h motor is a open deck block get a machine shop to stamp steel sleeve replacements made by darton!!
