What ever you do... Do not buy a cobra patriot of any kind. My father in law snagged up cobra patriot 9mm sub compact a few weeks ago at a decent price. We took it out to shoot. Its brand new, never been fired. The pos jammed every time he pulled the trigger.

you can get a smith and wesson .40 thats alot like a glock 23 for abt $229 brand new. they actually are having to stop making it because it's too similar to the glock 23 but it has some shine to it instead of being solid black. also a taurus 24/7 .40 or 9mm can be purchased for $270 or so brand new. if i didn't get my G23 for $400 new i would have bought the smith and wesson. franklins in athens had a ton of them, so did academy sport/outdoors. also call clydes armory in bogart(athens) they may have some nice used ones in your price range and i think they also had the smith and wesson. so far clydes is the cheapest place i have found guns and ammo hands down. bulls eye in lawrencevill wanted $50 more for a glock 23 with the LEO discount than at clydes. also a box of 50 federal hydra shot hollow points is under $30. their staff is also very helpful if your not knowledgable about guns like i was where the guy at bulls eye was an asshat to me. and guess what he lost my business. i wouldn't even buy a pair of goggles from them ever.

springfield XD is awesome, loved it and it's put through the same torture test as the glock, it was a little pricey new, $200 more than i spent on my glock and a box of hollow points.
