im sure a lot of people already are aware of the scam that has started through ITunes... people are getting bank acct info through ITunes... making small purchases through ITunes to test if the acct is good... then draining your acct in a matter of an hour or 2.

My GF got a call from her bank... they froze her acct because over $600 was spent in Tampa FL.... they stole her info through ITunes... created a fake card with her info on the "strip" and all they have to do is swipe the card.

so the first signs that you could be a victim is if you notice small ITunes purchases on your account that YOU didnt buy....right away contact your bank.

Nope. It wasn't him. It was a bank conspiracy to go along with police conspiracies and hospital conspiracies, lolol. Later, QD.

Actually, I contacted apple about the same charges that you posted. I had recently set up a account with itunes, and they said they were testing to see if the card worked, but nothing was actually being charged. They were right, nothing was ever charged. This was a month ago, and no money has been stolen from me. I don't think the scammers are intercepting apple emails... but who knows.

i work for a large credit card and this DOES happen, it has been going on for over a year and usually they catch the charges and make an outbound call to you if it is suspicious. many merchants "test" cards its nothing new. it posts as an "authorization" and is removed after a period of time. if you didnt call you would never know it was there. no need to blow up your credit card companies and freak out, just pay attention to your online accounts and statements. call if you see anything you don't recognize from these, report them and you'll be fine :goodjob:

You know whats sad, You work for a credit card company and your post is pretty stupid in relation to what we are talking about in this thread..

If your information is correct... explain to me this purchases :

01/05/2010 CHECK CARD PURCHASE APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 CA $0.99

12/26/2009 CHECK CARD PURCHASE APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 CA $0.99

So how long does it take ?

Or wait a second, this autho usually clears within 24 to 48 hours.. .. depending when the merchant "batches" their credit cards ...

If I didnt make the purchases , who did ?

Maybe Itunes is robbing me blind and other people too ? I really doubt that.. not saying that is not possible, but I doubt it.

and where did you find said purchases ? most likely on your online account... in which case these most likely are fraudulent charges since when they have "posted" they are no longer authorizations. i wasn't bashing your post directly bro just seemed like everyone got scared as soon as someone has an issue. good luck with getting it resolved :goodjob:

I think you and some others are missing the point or main subject here.

It's not that people are hacking into your iTunes account and stealing your Credit card info. Its people stealing your credit card info and they are using iTunes to test the card numbers.

If the song purchase goes thru then they will use it to buy other stuff. So this does not relate to the iTunes gift cards what so ever.

Hope that helps explain things to others about this.

their point is if you use itunes gift cards, your credit card info is never loaded in the first place and the people cant do it to you period.

They somehow managed to get her acct info through itunes... thats what the bank claims at least. There really is no way to know for sure right now... Her bank was very quick to refund all of the money with only a few questions.... Im not saying that anyone with an itunes acct should start to worry... im saying EVERYONE should keep a close eye on their CCs, and bank acct always. It could happen to anyone, anywhere, at anytime.....

there are other ways to get your CC info - they are TESTING it on itunes to see if the CC is valid... then they spend away.

yah there are obviously many ways to get your credit card info and its been known for many years. there are also many ways to test the credit card OTHER than iTunes. purpose of thread was that his GF had her CC info taken THROUGH iTunes itself. CC fraud is everywhere and he is letting us know about what is now going on with iTunes.

Sounds like OP's first post is related to bank account linked to Itunes and was drained of funds. In that case... use a credit card instead. Generally credit cards have more protection. If there is ever a dispute down the road, Itunes could continue to draw on the account b/c it's linked / they already have the account #s. The bank will not fight on your behalf to retrieve funds. With my credit card i have options...

I have been a victim of fraund before and so now all payments flow through a credit card. And payments pushed online to credit cards. Fraud is prevalent everywhere...hell even Etrade is not immune. Clark Howard's exec producer had her brokerage account drained but she caught it the same day, balances restored. Now she watches it more heavily. A brokerage account has no protection.... Thanks for the heads up.
