so i was in an accident a little over 4 weeks ago. basically, it was wet outside and when a black SUV cut me off, i hit my brakes and my car skid and hit the concrete divider. my whole suspension on that side is fucked. before the cop got there and made us move my car, it looked like the wheel was tilted out a ton. its still tilted out a bit. my wheel was pushed back so hard that it forced my side panel behind my passenger door and we couldnt open my door all the way. and it's possible that my frame is bent a little
we were finally able to get the whole car insurance thing situated and got my car to the body shop on saturday. today the appraisor went out and looked at my car. i was there but he didnt/doesnt know that it is my car. i was standing there with the office manager of the body shop when he told her that it was 85% of a total loss. i was told by multiple people, even by the office manager, that at a 70% total loss, the insurance company will total it out. but when he called me while he was inside and while i was still standing outside with the manager, he told me that it was 85% and that they were going to presume that it is repairable.
idk. that just doesnt make sense to me when ive had people tell me that they total it out at 70%.
anywho, the manager told me that it'll total. i just wanted to see what yall thought.

here are some pics.

nice purse.

haha thank you. got it for Christmas over a year ago. :)

Doesn't really seem to be. But they get weird sometimes with what's totalled and what's not..

its mainly because the whole suspension on that side is completely fucked up and suspension stuff aint cheap. theyd have to replace everything. plus the car is 9 years old with 120k miles on it. they may not want to put the money into it. but who knows for sure? guess we'll find out soon enough.

your airbags.

they're an innie.

Who cares. Get the money, buy it back, and fix it yourself for cheap and get it a nice paint job. If it was me I'll take the money and buy another car.

they will most likely total it cause the repairs will more than likely cost more than what the car is worth

if it does total, then im gonna get something else. this is my second SE-R in 2 years. i think it might be time to move on :( first one totaled when a girl turned out in front of me. i hit her head on at like 50mph. it was totaled no questions asked. bought the exact same one (same model, same color, same everything) with the insurance money.

i know its fixable but whether insurance wants to put all the money into fixing it is a different story. thanks for the gl :)

If they do total it, use the money to get some laser tattoo removal.

Probably, looks like it would cost more to fix then the car is worth. Just buy it back from insurance.

Realistically, totalled. Nice car though sad to see another one off the roads

You should take a fender off and post a picture. If the frame rail isn't bent, then it shouldn't be totaled. But like other people said if it is then take the money, buy the car back and fix it yourself.

Your car might be worth enough money to not get it totalled out. I could have fixed my hatch easily, but it wasn't worth the money for repairs in itself so it didn't matter. But they generally do total out cars in that condition so I'm not really sure what might happen. I can't really tell the extent of the damage.

i'd total it.

I'd total her!

But yeah, it shouldn't be totaled. I don't think theres any frame damage and the airbags didn't deploy.

They will probably repair it with recycled parts instead of new. IDK how much the car is worth, but you're looking at $3000-4000 including labor.

ugh i hate GEICO! they gave me only $3,700 and some change for my car and it is well worth more than that. i'm tryin to get more but my adjuster is an ass. he's saying that the deal has been made and that the title has already been signed. well asshole, you didnt even show me the damn check before you had me sign the title and when you gave it to me, you didnt explain how you got that value or anything. i'm gonna stop talking to him and try to talk to his supervisor. ugh i am so tired of this whole situation. i wish they would have just fixed my car. i miss my baby :(

If they dont give you what you want in the end, just keep what they gave you and save it for a down payment later down the road, bank the money, and just buy a 1000 dollar beater or something. Through high school and college the cars I had got dings and crap throughout their life. It wasnt until after college I really got a car that I truly wanted. Anything you buy now will probably be replaced down the road, just remember that. Get something you truly want, and if you have to wait, be patient :)

Good luck girl.
