im posting this up for a friend. he has a 97 civic ex with a d16y7 motor with a y8 mani. (the y8 blew so motor was swaped). the car runs fine with the P2P ecu but doesnt rev past 5k b/c the motor is not vtec.

the problem we'r having is, we changed the ecu to the correct 1, the P2E, but the car doesnt stay on. throwing code P1509. on HT it said we have to get a y7 IACV since the P2E is looking for that 1 instead of the y8 one currently on the car. my question is how do we convert his 2wire plug to a 3wire plug so it will fit the y7 IACV. or any other options to fix this problem?

thanks in advance:goodjob:

it's typically a conversion going the other way...3 wire to 2 wire. you'll need to run a wire from a13 to the 3 wire plug and move a12-a14. you'll need to get a y7 throttle body or auto y8 throttle body w/ the 3 wire iacv and a 3 wire plug that'll fit it.

the attached pics are going from 3wire to 2 wire, so you'll need to go backwards.

did the y8 head get damaged? you may be able to swap the y8 head and just run the y8 ecu again.

Ok I'll see if I can do the 2 to 3wire. And we don't have the y8 motor, the car came this way. Are you saying we could just buy a y8 head and slap on it the y7 bottom? Would we need to tap the block for the oil line?

Tap the block for what oil line? HAHA. Its not an LS/VTEC swap man.

Since I'm talking about a D-series, it would be a mini-me swap, not a LS/V. And I'm asking b/c the y7 doesn't come vtec, like the LS bottom or d15 bottom.
