The Aztec is a concept car introduced by ItalDesign in 1988. The two-seater is unique because the driver and passenger are separated, requiring the two parties to communicate electronically. It was fitted with a five cylinder, S-5 DOHC 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) Audi Turbo engine. Only 50 of these cars were ever built, recently the cars are sold for $75,000; a far cry from $225,000 they were sold for originally. The designer, Giugiaro, also designed the Lotus Esprit and the Maserati Boomerang.
The car was featured in the 1990 horror film Frankenstein Unbound.

Not Italdesign's best work imo.

Especially when compared to the Cala, Nazca, and Schigera

I may have some old prints of that car! I think it was at the 1987 or so Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. I went in '85, '86, and '87. I know it was in there somewhere. I wanna say it was late '86, because I seem to remember it was there at the same time Ferrari unveiled the F-40.

The concept cars always were the talk of the shows, but when you look back, they really look dated. Some still look out there, but most, like the Audi, look dated. The '85 Buick Wildcat, and the '86 Peugote Proxima are still great looking cars to me!
