I won't get into the almost very ugly situation (for him), but 1PM Saturday 6 foot+ black male in his late 30's made an attempt to grab my Dually from my driveway. (garage door open, everyone home, and I was loading the truck to go to the rifle range).
Since the fella turned his back and began to retreat, mercy was shown. ;)

Suspect was driving a 2000 Chevy S10 extended cab, no tint, no rims. PTCPD and myself are watching/looking for the vehicle.

Dude, tried to steal his shit. He happened to be going out shooting. So he had a gun in his hand, needless to say, he was being nice and didn't shoot the guy.

Trust me, it pains me not to share the details, becuase the guy was so close to fate pulling his card and hadn't a clue. That being said, "to me" he could have very easily been considered "a threat to my life" once that door (which he found to be locked) was opened. ;)

Now, being an avid competitive shooter, GFL holder, and 2nd amend. rights supporter, I will not disclose any more details nor preventative measures taken to protect my family and property well within my rights to do so. LEO surely reads these threads.

Just be warned that folks are getting bold and taking chances. This particular suspect left prints and a description of his vehicle is above.

shooting in the back is a felony even if they are robbing you. kinda gay, but i just moved from fayette county after 10 years of living there. Hopefully he got the hint to never steal again

If you have a vehicle with weapons in it, it's only fair to assume that once he enters it, he's now armed and a reasonable threat. Again, I was in the process of loading it to go to the shooting range.

The law in Georgia is 1) forcible felony 2) protects 3rd parties (my wife who was standing in front of a 10K lb truck).

He got into his truck without a round meeting the red dot...........that was my decision. ;)

I would have had a hard time restraining myself from firing off a few.. especially with a weapon in my hand already.. props to you for having restraint and thinking through the possible consequences :goodjob:

He was right in not shooting the guy. I would have chased him down all the way to the truck and beat the shit out of him. You have to be in fear for your life or the life of others. Had he reached into the truck where known firearms were, he would have been fair game. Shoot him in the leg and he could sue you, although I doubt he would win. Owning a firearm is a great thing if you are responsible with it. You need to know those grey areas. Glad to hear he didn't get your shit. This happening in PTC surprises me too.
