Buick announced that the buick Regal GS show car features a 255 horsepower, 295 pound-feet of torque, direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission that distributes its power to all four wheels through an adaptive all-wheel-drive system. If that wasn’t enough, the GS also features an electronic limited-slip rear differential, a lowered suspension, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, performance tires, massive Brembo brakes, sport steering wheel and pedals and Recaro racing-style seats.
“We designed the Regal GS to explore the appeal of a high-performance variant of the Regal,” said Craig Bierley, product marketing director for Buick. “Like the Regal, the Regal GS is based on the award-winning Opel Insignia, and we believe it will reinvigorate Buick’s storied Gran Sport legacy.”
Inside, the Regal GS varies from the standard Regal by featuring a completely jet black interior extending all the way up the pillars and into the headliner. There is also a sport shifter for the six-speed manual transmission and a suede-covered, flat-bottom steering wheel like those used in international racing series. The instrument panel displays in ice blue whenever the driver engages the sport mode of the Interactive Drive Control System (IDCS)
“The idea behind the Regal GS was taking the production model in a more aggressive direction to appeal to performance enthusiasts,” said John Cafaro, Buick design director. “But along with its aggressive stance, there’s sophisticated style in the design that complements the driving experience.”
The Buick Regal GS is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under six seconds.

How about now?

I got to say, yes. I would drive the hell out of this, everyday, and love it.

I think this car is going to be a nail in the coffin for Buick, cuz it's an old person car, but this one looks like it was designed to be sporty looking. Idk, I would buy one if i was 30, but now hell naw

i disagree, buick has been building real nice cars as of late. it would be nice if it came with the v6turbo like the insignia. But on Top Gear they said the Insignia was a real good car.. so the Regal should be no different. The import automakers arent offering anything new this year...so it might do well for the harcore jbody crowd...

I find it funny tha anything GM makes that might be remotely interesting (GTO, G8, this, CTS-V) are insanely over priced and thus run themself right off the market...wondering why sales didn't do so well.

I see CTS, IS-F, Hyundai and Mercedes in there.

I am pretty sure they are also a top seller in Asia(?).

I love the new Buicks, I wish they would come out with something sportier like the old GN or 442. Such as Camaro chassis and different body = LOVE.

Just wondering, I never usually disagree with you but how are they overpriced? They are cheaper than the car compared to (yes they are not as nice on the inside) but perform just as well (minus GTO cause it was kind of a flop).

Its just and Opel Insignia with Buick badges. I'd consider buying one and swapping all the badging out for the Opel ones. Oh and add VXR bits and pieces to the car for fun.

Problem is, you can't afford it now anyway and they're not marketing the car towards you.

Absolutely. I'll just swap out the badges from "Buick Regal" to "Opel Insignia." Glad to see this is actually happening and they'll actually offer a real manual transmission with it.

Damn it took a bailout for American cars companys to start to see the light! Ford is finally steppin up there game on something besides the Mustang GT, and GM is stepping up their game too. Took long enough.... I would buy that buick, just needs to work out the looks a little more, the front reminds me of a dog or something lol and try to make it light b/c it looks heavy

Looks like an attempt to compete with the TL type S and such. Not a bad looking car. not my first choice. Probably wouldn't buy but I would def. drive it IF I could get it for the low.

Exactly.

We live in a world where the badge doesn't represent where the car was designed and built.

This is the next example of Pontiac GTO and G8 owners that hadn't a clue their cars were 100% Australian.

Buick was the first GM brand to go racing.

Louis Chevrolet was one of their drivers.

Did you know that?

Don't think i goggled it. I've know about the Buick Bugs for many years.

Yup, Buicks are a HUGE hit in China..dunno why, but they are.

I think that a lot of GMs cars are over priced. I mean, look at the Solstice/Sky..upwords of $37k for them when they were new. To me, it's a low to mid-20K car. I saw one at a dealership where they added some wheels, some chrome bits and nicknacks and wanted $44k for it. As for the other cars , I dunno, to me it seems like they're a little high on the dollar for the quality of car you get. It would hav ebeen nice to see more of any of the performance cars on the road..but GM has their heads to far up their asses on SUVs to really care.

seriously? an awd 6spd car isnt what people want? i'd rock the hell out of it. the only problem is that i'm not in the market for a new car right now lol.

i feel thats one of the main reasons for its build. buick actually has the upper hand here because of the awd. correct me if i'm wrong, but i THINK the SHO is only being offered in a FWD platform.

overall, i think its sexy! i give buick big props for coming out with somethign like this. for the past few years, gm has been trying to change buick's image with the design and build quality of new models over that time span. i think they've come a long way with it, but the "stigma" of buick being an "old person's" car is still around and thats whats hurting their new game. not to mention, a good portion of the younger crowd doesnt even look at buick for that reason, so they're technically ignorant on the subject. hopefully gm's marketing division will get on the ball and make it happnen!

Well, they Americanize the stuff they brong over from other markets and water everything down...mostly the styling, which 9 out of 10 times is much more attractive in other countries. Take the Cadillac Catera for example. That was the Holden Commodore, but when released here it came with a wimpy V6, automatic slush box, boring styling and a price increas just because it said "Cadillac" on it.

Wish Ford would have brought the Falcon to the US market :(

I'll be the first to admit that I totally love the new Buick (i think it is the new CXL or something, the one that looks like a Lexus GS/LS).

I am glad to see that they are FINALLY putting more emphasis on styling... and they ARE making progress.

A step in the right direction.

However, I am not too crazy about the styling on this one, especially the front end.

What Sky/Solstice was $37k new? Even the fully loaded GXPs/Redlines weren't that much. If you are looking at some guppie model that the individual dealer put a bunch of chrome on, that is one thing. But those cars in particular were pretty fairly priced in my eyes.
